The Magic are virtually locked into the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference playoff race, unable to go up or down in the final 10 games, barring bizarre happenstance.
And as much as Coach Stan Van Gundy wants to win and polish the club's record, he has to get J.J. Redick some playing time.
The club has to see what J.J. can do outside the practice floor.
If these are Redick's last 10 games in Orlando --- and who thinks he'll see the light of day in the postseason? --- then the Magic at least need to show other teams that he has value.
J.J. still has a timeless quality --- he can shoot lights out. And if Jason Kapono and Matt Carroll and Luther Head and Eddie House and Kyle Korver can make it, is there any reason to believe Redick can't carve a spot somewhere as a shooter? Are those aforementioned gentlemen known as good defenders? No.
We know what Mo Evans can do as the starting shooting guard. We know what his backup, Keith Bogans, can do as Mo's backup. We don't really know what Redick can do except sit on the bench and look peeved.
Once we clinch the division and the #3 spot, I say give JJ a good 15 minutes in the final 5 games.
