I think his point was that Kobe still had decent production despite his poor play at times, and his poor shooting. These days, people look at fg% and if its below 50% in a game, then you didn't have a good game, and if its below 40% you had a negative impact on your team. Its not good logic. Kobe had a below average game, you can even say poor, but he did things out there that did help his team win. He made good passes to key 3point shots, and layups, and he hit the boards usually as well as a guard could. Its why teams like San Antonio can shoot 33% against a good team and win, FG% isn't everything in a basketball game.
