Well said. As hot as they've been, they are mediocre. Basically outside of Boston, Detroit, and Orlando the teams in the East are pretty bad overall.
And yet for all the talk about how great the West is, the Sixers have beaten Denver, Houston, San Antonio, and Phoenix. The ONLY team in the West that really scares me are the Lakers. When healthy, the combo of Odom, Gasol, Bynum, and Kobe, coached by Phil Jackson is downright dangerous.
As for the Sixers being mediocre, I have to disagree. I think chemistry is underrated and I think that we have a lot of young talent that plays with an amazing amount of poise considering their age. I do agree with you guys however that we are in dire need of a legitimate PF. While I like Brand, I'm concerned about his injury. Perhaps Okafor would be a better fit but he also comes with some health issues. The way our scout Tony DiLeo evaluates players, I wouldn't be surprised if we got our PF of the future via this year's draft. DiLeo has an excellent track record when it comes to drafting talent.
As for the Celtics, I have mixed feelings about your team. On paper, you guys look great - and your record would seem to indicate that you guys are for real. But I just keep getting flashbacks of the Lakers Dream Team with Malone, Payton, Kobe, and Shaq. Maybe I'll be wrong about you guys and you'll go all the way. Time will tell I guess. I think my other issue with the Celts is your PG. While I like Rondo, I'm not sure he's battle tested. In my opinion, he's a lot like our own Lou Williams but perhaps not as explosive. If you guys had say, Andre Miller running the show, I think you guys would be unstoppable.
