Which PG will be left off the Team USA Olympic roster?
Let's see if this changes any after the playoffs.
Kidd will make the team due to the team's success last year, unless he's injured or fatigued. But he is the oldest out of the bunch so it has to be a factor. Billups is in my opinion the best shooter but the least "pass-first" out of the four. Also, he's played more playoff games than any of the other player due to his team's continued success. Paul wasn't on the team last year. I think he was on the bench for moral support, but would continuation of the roster factor into anything? Williams seems like the least appreciated in terms of media coverage, so at least for this poll it may have an effect. Although by less the 2 minutes per, he averaged the least minutes played per game out of the 3 PG's last year.
I mean Mike Miller will make the team, so it's not so much who's the best player in the NBA type thread. It should be more about who will help the team win...

Personally, I'd take Billups because he is the best post up guard, defender, and game manager out of the group. As you said Kidd will get selected because of last season. Between Deron and Paul, I'd take Paul because he is just as good of a shooter from the international 3 (if not better) and he is the quickest so he'd be a good change of pace guy to have in there.
That gives you 3 very different guys who can do a lot of things.

Why cant they leave Kidd off, I think hes getting a little to much credit, the guy hasnt hit a shot all season so its not like hes in a slump I think his game has quickly gone down hill, I know hes played great for team USA but it almost seems wrong to exclude Paul or Williams from Team USA, at least bring them both so they can practice and stuff and maybe learn under Kidd and Billups before they are both to old to play for team USA. How many players are allowed on the roster 12?
Billups/Kidd/DWilliams
Kobe/Redd/MMiller
Anthony/Prince/MMiller
James/Amare
Howard/Chandler
I guess we are thin at PF/C and the need for another point guard will do nothing but crowd the backcourt. I think either Tayshaun Prince or Mike Miller or Tyson Chandler could be replaced.
Marcus Camby for Tyson Chandler
Brandon Roy - Mike Miller/Prince
Kevin Martin - Tayshaun Prince/Miller
are all guys that I could see being on the team over those three.

Williams is a better post up guard that Billups and at least as equal a defender. I think Deron is the best shooter out of the bunch.
If D-Will gets left off the roster it will be a serious tragedy.

There is no way Kidd can be left off, for anyone who actually thinks that's a possibility. Coach K, the rest of the staff, and the players, have TOO MUCH respect for him. Just not happening.
Also hard to see them leaving off the best point guard in the league this year.
Basically it'll come down to Williams or Billups. Give me Billups because he brings more to the team that we wouldn't already from the PG position....as far as having the whole package of experience, leadership, shooting ability, defense, post play, and clutch play.

They won't leave Deron off because it will cause a riot in Utah if Chris Paul gets on and he doesn't.
Honestly, what does Kidd bring that Deron and Paul can't do in the open floor? Less shooting, and more turnovers? Does team USA need his rebounding?
I hope it's Chris

Wow. Neither of those statements are remotely close to being true.
I am by no means a Pistons fan. In fact I usually hope they get upset in the first round. However I think Billups is one of the least recognized players of his generation. He is the engine behind the second most consistent team of the new millenium and the only truly elite player on it.
He is one of the top defenders at his position and THE top post up pg since Payton fell off... although Davis should take over on that front sooner or later.

Kidd is not the worst. Kidd's team is just the one that recently struggles the most.
Out of these 4, he easily has the best court vision. He and Billups have a better post game than Deron and Paul. Kidd is still a better defensive player than Paul and Williams. The only area in which Kidd is significantly worse is jumpshooting.
I'd even say Kidd is the best out of the group but not by a lot. It is so hard to rank the other guys behind him.
Out of Billups, Paul and Williams, Paul has the best court vision. He is also the best one on one perimeter player, but he gives up a lot of size and does not have a post up game, 2 problems that Billups and Williams don't have. Deron is probably the most composed player and best decision maker, while Billups can become a bit trigger happy at times.
I'd probably lay off Paul, not because I think he lacks talent, but because Team USA has playmakers on the wings already and Paul is not as good of a complimentary player as Billups and Williams, who are better jumpshooters and also can play on the wing along Kidd because of their size, while Paul would be undersized.
My verdict: Lay off Paul.

Kidd's post up abilities are irrelevant in this. The only thing relating to the post that would matter would be post defense, but Billups and Williams can also do that. Also Kidd a better defender than Paul and Williams? I don't think so, definately not anymore, unless I've been watching a different Jason Kidd all season.
I also don't really agree with Kidd and Billups being better decision makers than Chris Paul. Isn't that one of the greatest thing about Paul that he's such a good decision maker?
Anyways, I think the advantage of Kidd is that he almost doesn't want to shoot, and on a team with so many players capable of scoring, a guy who is willing to even take 0 shots a game and can run the offense is nice to have.
