Bucks rookie forward Yi Jianlian is scheduled to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging exam on his sprained left knee today, according to a team spokesman.

Yi was injured in the first half of the Bucks' 110-109 victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night. He has suffered a number of injuries this season, including a sprained right wrist, a sprained left ankle and right shoulder strain.

Yi missed five games due to the wrist injury from March 7-15 but was able to return to form recently. He had 11 points against Orlando on March 28 and contributed 14 points and eight rebounds at Chicago on Saturday, while playing 24 minutes.

In the Bucks' 119-115 overtime victory against the New York Knicks on Tuesday, Yi had eight points and four rebounds in 20 minutes.

"I feel more and more pain and I cannot put weight on the left leg right now," Yi said after the game on Wednesday.

It is not expected that Yi will be available for the Bucks' home game against Indiana on Friday, and his status beyond that will be determined by the test results.

The Bucks are also without guard Charlie Bell, sidelined with a medial collateral ligament tear in his right knee; and center Jake Voskuhl, out with a sprained left ankle.

I'm so sad you said like this, you know, yi didn't want to be injured anytime not only for the Olympics, maybe most of Bucks fans think yi want to be out for Olympics, you ignore his efforts.
yi's injury have made us feel sorrowful, but what you said also did it.

The fact is Yi is useless in the NBA with 365 days a year playing basketball. Since Yao is iffy to play in the Olympics, China has no realistic chance to medal. When Yi turns 27 or 28 next Olympics, China will have a better chance to medal.

Most Bucks fans are very aware of the importance of Yi's participation in the Olympics this summer.. However, I think the concern becomes is this the best thing for Yi the player even though it may be the best for Chinese team and his fellow countrymen/women? I don't think that answer is yes. We already see how Yi's continuously play has hurt and adversely affected him as the season has continued to grind on.. this kid needs to rest, to work on his game so he can improve, and time to adjust even more to the strains of the NBA. He isn't going to get that by playing non-stop like this..

So it may sound insensitive or perhaps selfish of some fans to wish for him to have some sort of "injury" that forces him to sit out for an extended period of time (forcing him to rehab and work on his game) but could ultimately end up being the best thing for his career in the long run. I'm sorry if that's offensive, I just see a need for Yi to get some time off and he can't do that playing year round without more than a month's worth of rest.

i know China has no chance to medal now, and our aim is not to medal but to break through our Chinese history record in Olympics. yeah, it must be better for yi to take a long rest before the Olympics. but yi want to have a good ending for his first NBA year.
