I think what he means is that Kobe's mere presence is opening up the court for everyone else. Even though he might not be directly setting up the baskets, Denver is so focused on where he is that everybody else has more space to operate.
It's a fair point, but it still doesn't change the fact that he's playing like garbage. We need him to step up in the second. Or at the very least, quit jacking up 3s.
