lamar? no one is rushing at this point. mitch has even said so.
did u miss my question? you keep talking about how lamar would do without pau. well, pau isn't going anywhere. why should how lamar plays without pau be relevant to how valuable he is to the lakers? if lamar is on the lakers, he's going to play with pau.
i'd like to add that when pau went down, lamar continued his stellar play. he didn't all of a sudden suck for 9 games.

look, you make some good points cash. but heres the disagreement because we have no guarantees what the guy with the checkbook is going to do.
-"IF" lamar is on the lakers, he's going to play with pau.-
we know pau is staying, guaranteed. but "IF" Dr. Buss decies to pay and keep lamar is the big story, and not guaranteed.
my opinion? "IF" depends on us winning the title. LOs contract depends on us winning a title within the alotted time of this year and next year when his contract runs out.
place banners up above the heads in the fans in the staples center. thats what this organization wants. thats our goal and mission. sorry lamar, but time is running out. and the standard around here is that high. thats what he signed up for. thats why we got him. thats whats expected of him. didnt say it was fair, but this aint the washington wizards. and hes had ample time and plenty of years to show his worth.
fortunately for us LAKER fans, hes been playing up to those expectations. but again, time is running out.

Buss is a smart man and I'm sure he knows that paying the most salary doesn't necessarily translate into winning championships (New York Yankees).
So how much salary do you think Buss will take on? I mean, honestly? $80-$100 million range?... or $100+ million dollar range or what?
If they win the championship this year (which I doubt because of lacking defensive intensity and the Celtics simply being too good), I'm sure he'd pay anything to gain ground on the Celtics banner count. As I've pointed out a million times before, Buss has made it his mission to pass the Celtics before he retires. I think we should listen to what the man says. He means it. He's too rich to feel the need to blow smoke up our arses.
If we make it to the finals and lose to the Celtics, you can bet your rear that he's going to go all out, spare no expense to keep the team together. I don't know him or how much money he has, so I don't know how much he'd be willing to pay, but my guess would be anything to pass the Leprechauns. Again, this is a discussion that is better served to be held after the Lakers post-season is over.

that is exactly 100% CORRECT!
the mission is clear. and some LAKER fans havent been around long enough to know, but the celtics have always been known as the greatest basketball franchise on the planet. by virtue of their history. and the LAKERs the fact that we were always the doormat for the celtics in the old days when the franchises met in the finals. they built many of those titles on the backs of elgin baylor and jerry west etc.
BUT THE MISSION IS CLEAR, AND THAT IS TO WIN AND WIN NOW! we have 14 CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES, and celtics have 16! WE MUST OVERTAKE THAT NUMBER!
again, i would say, if it be with lamar or anyone of these guys, great. but by no means is Dr. Buss enamored with star players. he has always had star players. he is only interested in star PRODUCTION. and if a guy does not produce . . . I.E. WIN TITLES!! . . . that player will not be around. heck, look at what happened to shaq. but the old man read it correctly in the fact that it just wasnt good anymore. shaq still has the same moves today that he had when he was a rookie. and his production will fall off. slower. older. fatter. etc...
the old man aint got time on his side either. he may be dating 20 year olds, but hes gettin up there in age. it is A MUST in his eyes, to win immediately.
and for that passion to win, and all of the years Dr. Buss has produced in this town . . . many of us are DIEHARD lakerfans.
