I don't mean superstar in the sense that it normally gets used (guy who scores lots of points). I define superstar as a highly productive player who excels at multiple aspects of basketball and propels a team into contention. Chris Paul (points, assists, steals) is a superstar. Dwight Howard (points, rebounds, blocks) and LeBron James (points, rebounds, assists) are superstars. The Hornets, Magic, and Cavs would all be sitting at home right now without those players.
Unlike baseball and American football, the addition of one player in basketball has an enormous impact on the results. While adding a superstar won't win you a title all by itself, it's almost impossible to win it all without one.
In short, whatever puts a superstar in a Hawks jersey the fastest is what they need to do. If that's rebuilding, so be it.
Those guys generally don't get traded. They get drafted.
