the original timeframe was a minimum of 8 weeks.

It was a minimum of 8 weeks but this whole thing has been a disaster. Lakers have handled this poorly. Im of the opinion that there is a beef with Lakers and Bynum. Phil expects his players to play with a little bit of pain but I think Bynums people are telling him dont do it, you have a big pay day coming. Phil said he was going to play Bynum the second to last game against Spurs and a couple days later Bynum decided to go to New York to his own doctor. Bynum has been in interviews countless times saying his knee was coming along, or how he didnt think the injury was that bad. After the New York trip he clams his knee was unstable and there was swelling. If my theory is correct, Bynum is putting himself in a bad position especially if we win the title.

What makes you so confident that the celtics, pistons or spurs would beat us now with the squad that we have and arizza returning?

I mean, Boston has not shown that killer instinct to win on the road which is a necessary ingredient of a championship team. They have been outplayed by Atlanta for godsakes on the road.

Same goes for the pistons, although they have gotten there act together recently.

The Spurs in IMHO are the team we should fear. However, we match up well against them and if we can stop parker, (maybe arizza on him?) then we have a legitimate chance.

Yes, I know Boston beat the crap out of us twice during the regular season. But we did not have Gasol and we were not playing this caliber level of basketball.

It would have been great to have Bynum back, but I do not think our chances this year, with him returning in a limited capacity, would have improved our chances of winning a title by that much.

We can, no doubt, but this definitely doesn't help. Seven feet and 250 pounds of prime beef really comes in handy. I guess now all we can do is hope that this was just a fluke injury and not a sign of things to come.

Im not worried about the Spurs or the Pistons. I think we can beat both teams in 6. The Celtics will be a good matchup and I think anyone can win that. The Spurs flat out have a hard time scoring the ball. To beat the lakers your gonna have to be able to put up at least 100pts consistantly. I feel the same way about the Pistons. I know these are good defensive teams but with the addition of Pau Gasol our offense has been sick.

I think we still have a great chance, particularly if Pau and Odom can continue to play well. The only teams that I still fear are San Antonio and Boston (assuming we don't choke against Utah), particularly because they have a lot of size. No other team really concerns me.

Wouldnt than mean that Bynum has handeled this poorly? My take from the Lakers POV is that he rehabbed and then they thought he was ready to go regardless of a little pain.. ( see other injured players playing) while Bynums camp are the ones going off the grid.

As an org. they expect their players to play-- even if there is some pain. Phil used to make cat calls to Kwame... meow meow..

The problem is Bynums camp and lets hope they dont operate differently from the org. or there could be trouble down the road.

Yeah I agree. By no means is Bynum walking out of this fresh as a lily. This pisses me off. I hope Bynum isnt a problem in the future. I think Bynum is starting to believe the hype about himself. You can blame Laker Mgnt for riding his jock. At the same time Im sure the young man just wants his payday. So I understand both sides. Thats why I love KB24. He is a franchise player that plays through pain.

I can understand why he doesn't want to play and mess up his knee. As a young man coming to the NBA out of high school. This is his only shot to make it. He hasn't got a large contract yet, so he and his family are being overly cautious about this injury. Even if he has a shot to win a ring. I think there might still be some bad blood resonating from Kobe's public opinions to trade Bynum, then Kupchak admitting that "no one is untouchable after Kobe made that statement." That probably left a bad taste in Bynum's camps mouths and now they are looking out for number 1 instead of the team's interests. As fans of the lakers it can be frustrating. But to logically step back and look at it. If Bynum comes back too early on that knee, it could cost him a 13 million dollar a year contract extension. What would you do if you only had a high school education to fall back on? I'm just glad that we have Pau, and we'll be ok without him.

i think he's just not healing as fast as everyone expected and its in EVERYONES best interest to not force him back.
