Our starting five is probably intact.
My question is: Does anyone see any vets willing to come in here and play behind Horford, Smoove and Marvin?
I think JJ and Bibby are solid in their starting slots (you aren't putting guys who average $14M on the bench).
We will probably have to move 2 to get one and possibly get a draft pick back from someone.
I truly don't expect a busy offseason for any new GM coming in here. I just hope we don't start off slow next year and then we are dealing with the Woody question yet again after extending him 3 or 4 years. We have a chance to break clean now, but it won't happen.

True that on both.Bibby without his jumpshot is a scrub at this point in his career. He prolly wouldn't have been much without it earlier in his career either. They Call Me Cash wrote:Bibby IS NOT an above average PG compared to the rest of the starting PGs in the L.
Marvin IS NOT an average SF compared to the rest of the starting SFs in the L.

Bibby was NEVER untouchable to me.I never thought he'd last long as he shouldn't and he only got exposed when we needed him most.JoshB914 wrote:It's hilarious how Bibby went from untouchable to a scrub in two weeks on this board. He's an above average PG in this league, one bad month and everyone is ready to crucify him.

We also don't make the playoffs if Indiana didn't fold under pressure like we did.We lost every last one of the games we needed to clinch besides the Raptors game.I just knew Bibby would bring the outside threat but that's it.It didn't care much for him in the trade.I only cared that we got rid of BOTH AJ and Lue.I thought Acie was gonna get the backup PG minutes which he didn't.He would only get like 3-4 minutes then Woody started with the damn Childress at PG crap again that didn't work once throughout the season.I never wanted Bibby to last to next season. It's Acie's time and it's time for Woody to go.JoshB914 wrote:Exposed when we needed him most? I think people jsut overrated the guy in the first place, thinking he was a lot better than he was. He's a decent PG nowadays, he'll be a decent PG next year too.

Bibby is not above average. Really he probably helped us out the most because of what he has done in the past, not what he did during the season. Defenses let up on Joe a bit because of Bibby, but as the playoffs showed, a lot of the times it probably wasn't necessary.

^^^ Um... Toronto?
Look, Bibby was awful in the playoffs. I agree 100% that Acie should have had a chance to show him some serious bench time. But the guy gave us about what we realistically should of expected: streak shooting, decent passing, and excellent leadership.
And CWell you and I both know we would have made the playoffs and beat the Heat and/or Magic if those games meant anything.

Bibby is too inconsistent to be considered an above average PG. In the 40 games he played with Atlanta he shot under 40% in 23 of them. (judging from a quick skim, give or take a game) Some of those 23 games you could say he shot us out of. At this point he's sitting at about average. What exactly makes you believe he has "excellent leadership?"

1) I've just heard he was a good leader at virtually every point in his career.
2) I also saw him talking a lot out there and becoming a vet leader immediately. Before him we had JJ who doesn't talk much, Bibby made everyone around him much more confident.
3) The TEAM got drastically better with him on the roster, even when he wasn't playing well.

The only way Bibby is an above average pg is if you consider all the backups in the league like AJ and Lue.
Billups
Alston
Ford
Miller
Mo Williams
Fisher
Paul
Parker
Deron
Kidd
Baron
Nash
Harris
Hinich
Calderon
There are 15 pgs. Now tell me how many of those guys Bibby is better than.

Again, I don't know how you can say he made everyone more confident. You might as well say he made everyone a better dancer. There's just as much backing that up.

Haha, that's funny because I did the exact same thing. But I felt he is better than Hinrich, Mo Will, Fish, and Alston. So agree to disagree there.
Like LL said, our offense jumped from the worst to one of the best. And as we have mentioned, it's not like Bibby played great. So yes, I do believe everyone played with more confidence. And yes, there is evidence to back that up if you look at the results.
Or do we think our offense just happened to get better with Bibby in the lineup?
