Irrelevant. If a guy calls himself by said nickname (as LeBron calls himself King James), it doesn't matter where the nickname came from.

Hell, his mom named him LeBron; he didn't select it. Where's the insight in that argument?

'Bron calls him self King James? I've never personally heard him call himself that.....

He's known as KING because he goes around crowning whoever the hell he wants, including KG.

We do need nicknames like the ones listed above, it adds flavor to the game.

On the subject of unique nicknames, the Black Mamba for Kobe doesn't float my boat, for lack of a better term.

It's just, meh.

King James is one the better names around.

Seriously, the T-Mac and D-Will's of today make me sick. Get some real nick names out there!

Of course it's a loftier nickname. Mostly because it's actually a nickname.

KG, T-Mac, and CP3 are the lamest nicknames in the history of nicknames. What unoriginal jagoff thought of those?

Those aren't even nicknames, they're abbreviations.

I blame ESPN.

And I can't believe there's a thread on Lebron not deserving his nickname, when I've heard Sasha Vujacic called "The Machine" on national TV.
