McGrady2Head, you left out how Kobe shot 35-98 against us (and rarely has a good game vs. shane). I'd like to see an average statline of the player Shane's guarding vs. the averages of those players when they're playing against other teams. A couple other points are that Shane is a better team defender than 1v1 defender, he is definitely better than Bruce Bowen on several fronts, and something else that I forgot now.
Also if he's so ineffectual against other SGs, why was he third in DPOY and on the second team defensively?

Morey 2020.

He is not bruce bowen or dennis rodman lol hes not even close. we are overrating battier so much. Battier is the key to our team you say? You say Battier defends all the other teams best players everynight so well? ok, lets see how battier defended some of the leagues elite players this year.

As you can see, most of these guys numbers were better or the same when they played the rockets. Battier makes no difference at all. Im pretty sure anyone of the great scorers on the above list could hold Kobe to 33 pts a game, roy to 20.3, redd to 26, and wade to 32 just like battier did lol. the only difference is that 3rd scorer would also drop 15 - 20 pts themselves, and take the burden off of mac and yao, which battier certainly does not.

You're kind of clueless aren't you. Oh welll, it's not your fault. We beat the Lakers twice because Battier forced Kobe into shooting 30+ times to get good scoring numbers. He forced almost every guy you mentioned into shooting below their averages from the field. I guess that's why you conveniently left those players' shooting %'s for the season off your list. Sorry little fella, but you're wrong.

Just look at Battier's Defensive Win Shares and see where he ranks among the league's best.

Oh, don't tell me Paul Pierce is a bad defender. He was an exceptional defender this season.

STATS are fun. But don't tell the entire story. Defense is a team goal no one has shut down these guys one on one. If you watch basketball you know how guys like Bowen, Prince and Battier effect the game without effecting the box score.
