Good point certainly. But a few things I'd mention ...
- Beasley, as the #2 pick, would automatically be the 2nd or 3rd best player on the team. So no way he rides the pine as the 12th man like Dorell. He'll play big minutes
- Season ticket holders will pay to see Beasley (or Rose of course). He'll probably be marketed in print ads and what not, being high profile as the #2 pick. So no way he's the 12th man. He'll play big minutes
- Dorell stumbled onto a team that had a 3-year window to win a title with aging vets, so expectations were high and missteps by a clumsy teenager could not be tolerated. We are in a different atmosphere now. Beasley will be looked at as someone who must help carry us, not someone who hinders us
Valid points but it doesn't mean that Beasley's "fun" behavior (as some call it) will be tolerated. I could see some pampering the first year but hopefully by year two he's more mature because that is when more is going to be expected of him.
Maybe we are thinking too much of it but the history is there for both parties. Let's hope for the best.
- Spoelstra's the coach now, not Riley
Yeah, but to what extend?
