1992, 1996, 2000, 2004 and now 2008, basically every time their has been a summer olympics.

He was in the finals 4/5 years the first time in LA, and in the second go around he's 1/3 in the Finals.
So basically with the lakers 5/8 he's gotten them to the Finals.
That is ridiculous, he is a legend.
But the real accomplishment is still 4 wins away for him to break the all time record.

Check your history Lakers Fans since 1980 there has been a leap year trend.
Either the Lakers or Phil Jackson has been in every leap year Finals since 1980.

I think it's the coaches job to make his players great.
Phil Jackson has done that a number of times, with a number of different players, over a 20 year span.
Phil Jackson isn't just the best coach in the NBA, you would have a hard time convincing me of a coach more influential in any of the three major sports.

Because there were definitely a lot of teams back then, right? Totally like 30 teams with 14-16 players each. I'm pretty sure quite a few teams had several hall of famers back then, given the size of the league. The talent base was not nearly as eroded, plus the standards of reaching the HOF were lower.
