If the Knicks want Iguodala
The article that they are shopping the #6 pick isn't shocking considering every lottery team has had a similar article written about their pick, but if the Knicks would be interested in a s/t for Iguodala, what matching salaries would you take back in addition to the #6 pick? They have plenty of garbage, but what is reasonable to take off their hands in exchange for a chance to grab Randolph/Bayless/Lopez/Mayo/Gallinari?

i think you could do a s&t for malik rose (expires in '09), david lee and the #6. i did a deal using miller for rose and lee and it worked. i'm expecting iggy's first year of the new deal would be in the 9mil range. even if that doesn't yield you the pf you're looking for now you have both rose and miller expiring in '09 to work with and are not stuck with randolph or curry's bad contracts.

I don't see the point in trading Iggy for #6. The sixers have put a lot of time on Iguodala and the guy has become a good all-around player. What player is a sure-bet to be better than Iggy at #6?
Some people get a little carried away because of the Piston series and overlook everything Iguodala has done in the last 2 years. The dude is talented and young. He has room to improve and at the very least he is a perfect #2 on a championship caliber team.

I'd prefer signing Iggy to a reasonable deal but if things fall apart this seems like a fairly reasonable option to consider.
I think David Lee is very valuable. On a good team he'd be considered the 6th man of the year multiple times throughout his career.
I don't know enough about the draftees to definitely know what to do with the #6, but I assume there's good value to be had there.

CPops57:
I agree with both of your last posts...I guess th at I am not as sold on Jason Smith as others on this forum might be - I woud consider Lee a nice upgrade there. I like the additional cap flexibility of losing Malik's contract (if the plan is just to keep Miller next season and use his cap room next summer. And - at #6 - we could certainly take a good shot of filling one of the holes that Stefanski said he wants to address in this draft.
I think we need a solid plan B if Iggy wants silly money this summer...and this looks like a good one (expecially if we are not moving Miller).

Sorry, I initially posted this on the wrong thread:
I realize why people are down on Iguodala and concerned about his contract, but I think people overvalue mid lottery picks. Sure some of them end up being stars, but most end up being worse than Iguodala.
I would not trade a solid 24 year old player like Iguodala for the #6 pick (NY's pick). Look at #6 picks over the last 27 years, who other than Roy and maybe Kaman was clearly better than Iguodala is right now? People forget how risky draft picks are unless you get a top 3 pick.
#6 picks (roughly best to worst)
Roy
Kenny Smith
Hersey Hawkins
Antoine Walker
Chris Kaman
Wally Szcerbiak
Shane Battier
Childress
Yi
Webster
Tom Gugliotta
Bryant Reeves
Stacey King
Joe Kleine
DeMarr Johnson
Ron Mercer
Calbert Chaeney
Felton Spencer
William Bedford
Mel Turpin
Doug Smith
Sharone Wright
Robert Traylor
Dajuan Wagner
Stacey King
Joe Kleine

Knicks aren't going to give up an expireing contract and take on more money with Iggy.
However, If I could trade Iggy and come out with Mayo and Randolph I wouldn't have a problem with that. And still keep the 16 and take another big man. How about adding the 16th to the deal if the Knicks want to include Rose and his contract.

Some of those are pretty bad. Only one change I'd make right off the bat - Gugliotta should be top 3 IMO. Before he tore up his knees he was a heck of a player.

Well we could just trade the 6th pick for the 9th pick straight up. That way we'd get a guy like Amare Stoudemire, Shawn Marion, Dirk Nowitzki, or Tracy McGrady.
