Ok then...
This one was difficult because Boston didn't have a writeup, and the Knicks' writeup was shorter than most of the others. Obviously the key matchup here is Frazier vs. Stockton, honorable mention to Robinson vs. Moses.
Even though I hate the Knicks with a passion, I have to say the rest of the judges made the right decision. Although I feel that they do not really have great first scoring option, guys like Monroe and Walker would do the job, and they have some gifted scorers off the bench. Boston, on the other hand, has the scorers in Moncrief and Carter, but you always have to question VC's will to win. I think that Camby would be forced to elevate his offensive game because of Stockton, so their offense would not have much to worry about.
I do think that Boston has a deeper bench than the Knicks, but these two teams really are very similar. I think that New York has the best player in this series in Stockton, and he would lead the team to victory.
Bro, there are two players on both teams that are better htan STockton. DRob and MOses are easily better than Stockton. Then you have Walt who is arguably better as well.
The only reason STockton is where he's at is because of longevity, in this tournament where prime is ocncerned his value diminishes, and Drob/Moses/Walt were still considered better plaeysr on career by most.
Boy boy I really wish I coulda written a writeup, I'd been working 7 days a week and am also juggling summer classes so I couldn't get to it.
I think after TrueLA my team was the most realistic and balanced.
You had my main offense option Drob, Cowens who is like a MVP role player who'd just get his points off open layups and offensive rebounds. Sidney Moncrief and Walt are natural offensive players with no real set plays run for them, they'd just get their shots naturally, and VC who would be my guy that stretches the D with his good 3point shot and slash on occassion.
Moncrief was known for his defense, but he was also a 20 PPG scorer on 50% so I don't know what u mean by "guys like" Moncrief when you referring to my offense.
3 of my guys in my SL shoot 50+% and two of them shoot 46%.
My bench was also comprised of guys that were suited to the bench role. Detlef Schremph - 2 6MOY. Averaged 19 ppg off the bench with 50 FG% and 40 3PFG%.
Michael Ray Richardson, named as the next Walt Frazier, two all D teams, lead the league in steals twice, assists once, PRIME averages would have come out to 16/8/7/2.5.
Dan Marjele - Great shooter, top 5 in 3Point makes 3-4 times in his prime. He was a guy that would really stretch the defense when I needed to. Not to mention an All Defensive member once as well. IMO he was my favorite selection of the whole draft lol. To get a guy this late was pretty awesome.
Robert Parish - No introduction needed. Awesome awesome scorer, awesome shotblocker, awesome rebounder. Best center rotation in the league bar none IMO.
Andrei Kirlenko - Needed another lengthy guy that could come in for VC or guard Detlef's guy when 2nd unit was in. He can shotblock pass, score, rebound everything.
Cedrick Maxwell: I was planning to run something like this rotation: 28 min VC, 10 min Andrei 10 Min Maxewll. He was a Finals MVP who on occassion could be the best player on the floor. A La a Manu Ginobili. He won finals MVP with Larry Legend averaging 26/10/6 in the playoffs...
John Starks: 6MOY. Gritty defender, decent 3 point shooter and rose his game in the playoffs.
EVERY SINGLE GUy i drafted brought alot of differnet things to the floor. I actually like my bench better than my SL because of how versatile and awesome it was. I have stellar perimeter D with michael ray and Dan, stellar post D with Parish and Andrei, great shotblocking with Parish and Andrei, good passing with Andrei and Michael Ray, scoring with Parish/Marjele/Maxwell, solid rebounding with Parish. And most of all almost all of those guys were on the bench for good portion of their careers or possessed attitudes that could be said to coexist on the bench. Every single one of them didn't need the ball to be effective.
Dan brought spotup shooting and defense. Michael Ray brought D and simple passing, Andrei brought up defense, rebounding, Parish brought in D and passing, Detlef brought in sweet sweet shooting and passing.
I know it's useless to write my writeup now, but it's not just about winning or losing, this was basically an introduction to my team.
Anyways, congrats Random.
