9 rings > 4 rings.

Really, the discussion ends right there.

And if some people argue that Phil only coaches teams with great players, what about Pop?

This guy is the biggest rat ever.

The year the Spurs were horrible, and David Robinson was injured, they got off to a horrible start. So then Pop, as the GM, fires his coach THE DAY ROBINSON IS SET TO COME BACK.

He was basically setting himself up to be a hero, and lead a turnaround.

Give me a break. Pop is fit to shine Phil's shoes. That's about it.

Lakers in 5.

Jackson >>>>>>>>>>> Pop.

This isn't the first time, either.

Could Pop massage the egos of a Kobe-Shaq duo for 5 years?

Has Pop ever swept a Phil Jackson-coached team in a playoff series?

Don't give me this crap about Pop never having the greatest players on his roster. Hasn't Tim Duncan been a perennial great this decade?

Lakers won in 5. Put this argument to rest. Phil has 9 rings.

When i look at the age of the Spurs team and their bench it's a wonder this team has even reached the conference finals this year .

^You can claim Popovich #1, just as you can Jackson or Riley for #1, too.

It all depends what you measure success at, especially for a coach.

Here's the thing, if we're talking the last 10 years, then you definitly have an argument for pop. If we're talking the last 25, then it's jackson hands down and its not even close.

If that was true then he wouldn't have gotten owned by Phil 4 of the 5 times he has faced him this decade.

Phil's the GCOAT. He's got the best combination of tactical knowledge + application of it on both ends of the floor to go along with mentally preparing his players for every situation they're about to face. You look at the SA/LA series...and you can see just how far ahead LA is mentally compared to SA. That's all coaching. Don't give me this BS about how Phil has had the best players. So did Pop, Riley, Tomjanovich, Auerbach and every other coach who won a lot of rings. Yet none of them are as successful as Phil.
