Jerry West. John Havlicek. Jason Kidd. Patrick Ewing. Clyde Drexler. Elgin Baylor.
None of these players have MVPs, although most are considered to be elite, if not legendary players.
Who do people think are the best non-MVP players, and WHY did they not gain that final accolade? What x-factor was missing?
Not quite MVP

West was never the best player in the league. There was always someone better. Havlicek is overrated at RealGM. He's not an MVP caliber player and does not have MVP numbers. Kidd was in his prime when Duncan was in his prime. Ewing was a second class big man behind Hakeem, Robinson, and Shaq. Drexler was far below Jordan. When Baylor played, the MVP went to either Wilt, Russell or Oscar.

Any other suggestions as to "Almost" MVPs? And I think you're selling Ewing short very slightly, pre-knee...
MVP is very "Highlander" in that "there can be only one", but the question I suppose is how you qualify and quantify MVP awards...
