Doc Rivers
The reason the team stopped playing was he stopped coaching. Instead of leaving in one of PJ or Leon to continue to pound the Lakers inside and on the boards, he puts in Posey likely for experimental reasons for the upcoming games and the Celtics played soft and stopped pounding the inside, and worst of all, stopped rotating hard on defence. The coaching advantage showed through in the 4th, thank god he didnt try smallball earlier.

i totally i agree, that was the most sickening win i've ever seen. James Posey hadn't played pf all game and it was fine to stick him in when it was a blowout, but he should have been out of there by the time the game got within 14 points. This is the nba finals, that was one of the most pathetic coaching decisions i've ever seen leaving posey in when Pj or powe would have come in and instantly stopped the bleeding considering they were both playing smothering d down low the WHOLE game. wtf

And I'm not saying Posey played bad either, because he played fantastic in the first half, but putting him at the 4 seemed like a move just to match up with Radman at the 4 when Leon was eating him inside and he looked like he wanted to be subbed out the way Leon was beating him up. The substitution was one of the worst in NBA history.
IN THE HISTORY OF CIVILIZATION.
haha.

What a joke this thread is. It is so representative of the Doc haters on this board. What game were you watching?
Who was PJ or Powe going to guard? Vald Rad on the 3pt line? Gasol and Odom did not damage down the stretch this was Kobe and 3 pt chucking. They were down 24 points they were going small and chucking no matter what. Who was going to guard Kobe?
Posey made nothing but plays, he has been the guy the whole season. This concept makes no sense and it is the only way to put this at Doc's feet. The Lakers were desperate and the C's were lax and sloppy on both ends.
Go smoke another one with Chief Triangle.

I thought it was a decent idea to put Posey out there to guard their three point shooters; it just didn't work out.
To be honest, I think a lot of it was that the Lakers were just hitting everything. We can't blame everything on the Celtics, as poorly as they played. The Lakers hit something like eight of their last nine three point attempts, and Kobe was hitting some well-guarded shots. Much respect for all the shots they were hitting at the end of those games.

Since when should a team with a big lead try to adjust to the other teams type of play. You play the players and style that got you the lead in the first place.
Posey made some big plays, but he also make some bad plays. Anyone remember the play where he didn't box out Vlad and Vlad got an easy offensive put back?
Doc Rivers puts in all perimeter players and then says we stopped being aggressive. No ****. Powe was very aggressive and got to the line 13 times in only 15 minutes, so what does Doc do? He takes me out. We become a jump shooting team and stop playing agressively. Is it Rocket science?
When you have a big lead, you go into the post and get either closer looks or get to the line. Two things happen when you do this:
1. Your chances of scoring points increases.
2. It slows down the other team because it makes it harder for them to run after made baskets because it allows your team time to get back and play defense.

This wasn't an offensive issue, the C's scored 25 pts in the 4th quarter. Leon was in the game when things went wrong. He missed a FT, 1 of 4 we missed as a team in the final 7 mins. His man, Vlad Rad drills a 3, he misses a shot, and then he commits a foul on Fisher on the rotation. He didn't have anyone to guard. The Lakers are on a 7-0 run. Doc goes to Ray in place of Powe. The C's close out Radmonovich on the 3pt line even though he does get loose on the offensive glass. Ray comes in and scores on an offensive put back and sets Posey up for two wide open 3's in the corner and he makes one.
If one of a half dozen things goes the other way down the stretch it never gets that close. The Lakers played desperate basketball and the C's played not to lose. The last thing we needed was one less, shooter, perimeter defender, and ball handler on the floor. Leon Powe isn't beating Derek Fisher to that loose ball.
If he had left Powe in the game and the results were the same you would all be crying why did he have Leon trying to guard on the perimeter.
