Lakers whining and crying about foul calls. Why?
Wasn't Boston the more aggressive team last night?
Did the Lakers take it to the hole?
Its kind of hard to get foul calls when all you do is shoot jump shots, right?
The Lakers really only have two players who are aggressive consistently at going to the hole in Kobe and Gasol.
Outside of those two guys, the rest of the team is bunch of jumpshooters. Thats the way the team was constructed around Kobe.
I could see if the Lakers were going to the hole, getting knocked down and still not getting the calls. But when you play all jumpshooters, what do you expect?

The bad call that stands out in my mind last night was the 2nd foul called on Kobe where he swatted Ray's hand away on a blatant hand check/reach in. If the defender is gonna reach into the offensive players space than he has every right to brush his arm off, gimme a break. That foul changed the game imo.

The Lakers took 30 shots within 5 feet. THIRTY!!! and they
got 10 FTs. Boston took 18.

Warspite:
Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

LA clearly deserved about about 20 more FTs, because you know they must have gotten fouled on at least 10 of the 40 jumpers they bricked. Regardless, it's part of the game. The Celtics got raped and shot around 100 less FTs than the Hawks in the opening round, and still manged to blow them out 4 times.

Hrm, let's see... do shot attempts within 5 feet count if you get fouled? No. Do you get points in the paint for free throws made if you get fouled in the paint? No. Hence Boston shot around the same (possibly more) shots close in than LA did, and they got fouled on them which removed the shot attempt from the box score/shot chart since they were fouled. Ya dig?
At least think about these things before you try and toss numbers around.

also how about the fact that on defense the celtics hack kobe and grab and hold him to prevent him from getting the ball at certain spots (like the mid post). however, if kobe touches pierce or allen, he gets a foul call.

you must be slow. i'm not insinuating the celtics were not being aggressive, i'm saying the celtics were getting foul calls in the paint, while we weren't. our shot count in the paint woulda been lower if we got the same calls you did. of course, with us, the refs "let them play," but with you it was called a foul everytime. at least think before you question someone majoring in math.

Exxxxactly. It's become more and more apparent that Allen can resort to the Koala style defense where he literally hangs onto Kobes back but when Kobe brushes him off they call a foul. How in the world is Kobe able to swing his arm back and make contact with Allen if Allen isnt already basically impregnating him from behind??
It's called personal space, obviously it doesnt apply to Kobe.

Powe was getting the ball under the basket and fouled when he would go up with it. The Lakers usually couldn't even get in the paint. There is no conspiracy.

For all the Laker fans bitching about the calls, here is a quote from the great Phil Jackson: "What the ****'s wrong with you, go sit down!"

celts fans keep saying we were only shooting jumpers but ignore the stats about points in the paint and shots attempted in the paint. we were being aggressive. we did foul you, but you fouled us and the refs swallowed their whistles. also, how about they stop calling touch fouls on the mvp? since when does that happen?

If Fisher and or Farmar would actually defend something moving, and stop Rondo's dribble penetration, this wouldn't be an issue..
It wasn't an issue for the Cavs for the most part, and we only had one guy that could attack the paint... However, we defended Boston, that's the difference..
You have to limit Rondo's creative ability, and get physical with Pierce, because they're the only two guys that can create any type of consistent offense for anyone else...
Fisher's defense has been absolutely pathetic thus far...Farmar's yet to play it as well..
Kobe needs to either guard Rondo or Pierce... Not Ray Allen..
