It's absurd to think race has to do with him not having a job... Michael Curry and Terry Porter didn't seem to struggle with it.

I can't see why Avery Johnson is not getting offers. I really want to play the race card but I'll let it go this time. That Dallas team overachieved to me. He made them into one of the best defensive teams in the NBA with a team Pau Gasols. Mark Cuban is the reason they sucked this year. He made a panic trade and now his team is paying the price. Devin Harris was getting better every year. I hope Dallas becomes a cellar team. Not Avery fault.

Because he too much of a micro-manager that can't handle any lose of control. That style just wears on teams so he has a short shelf life. And he showed very little ability to adapt his style to his players. Instead he tried to force his players to adapt to him.

i think the 2 first round losses in the 07 and 08 playoffs have a lot to do with him being passed over.

A micromanager like him doesn't have a long shelf life.. couple that with his less than innovative offense which basically involves ISO's, I don't think he has that good of a coach longterm. Besides, he has shown to be a very bad man manager, so I am not at all surprised.

^ I think in chicago's case its likely about money. Pheonix was going to hire Porter no matter what. Detroit is the only surprising one though given that Detroit has to have paid a lot of money to previously fired coaches over the years he probably too expensive for them as well. The team I would pay attention to is Atlanta and Golden State. The only guy left out there who might compete with him for a job is Thibideau.

Money and the "Right situation". I'm guessing the Pistons job was Currys' for quite some time now. The Suns gig is either going to be really good for a year or two...or just be a really bad situation. Shaq is playing for a ring and is a shell of his former self.

Not to mention, your starters; Hill, Stoudmire, O'neal, Nash and Bell. Not to bad.

Your bench; Barbosa and Bell. Thats good. Then you have a whole lot of ehh.... Gordon Girciek fit really well, but that kind of seems like "new car smell". Guy suddenly joins a new team and plays above his level. Then new coach/style comes in and suddenly that same guy doesn't seem as effective.

The Bulls. I've got to think they didn't want to spend that much. Because, I really think that would have a great match.

The Bulls wanted to go in a different direction with their new coach. Going after Dan Tony shows that.

Johnson was too similar to Skiles and many wouldn't be happy with him calling every play on the sideline for Rose like he did with Harris and Kidd.

Cliff Levingston is personally very happy that we didn't hire Johnson. No need to get another drill sergeant to coach after having just fired one.
