Maybe the Lakers were good enough to beat us with or without the chant? Did that ever occur to you? What a load of nonsense..worrying about a chant. We could chant in Chinese for all I care and I think we could win.

Oh r2g, I love ya man but you're setting yourself up with this thread. Btw, there's a difference between scientific fact and psychological theory. Superstition is a whole other thing... I don't see any bad luck, just a team that's up 2-1 facing two more tough road games before coming back home.

What would you call the injuries to Pierce, Perkins, and Rondo? Good fortune? I'm just sayin.

There should still be a link on Boston Globe about "BEAT LA." It's origins are perhaps one of the single greatest acts of sportsmanship in pro sports at least in this city.

The chant first happened in the game 7 loss against the Sixers in '82 at the Garden. Two games earlier the crowed chanted "See you on Sun" meaning that Boston would win in PHI in game 6. After Boston loss and was eliminated the crowd chanted BEAT LA to the Sixers. You know what it didn't work then but that isn't what it is about. It is a salute, a mantra.

Stop trashing it with pseudo psyc crap, there is no place for that here.

BEAT LA.

the team sure does seem unlucky and jinxed and whatever....
I despise fans that cheer on a team from up north or one that resembles a dinosaur. oh wait...
