Hey,
You're the one trading for Kapono. I'm just trying to get a sharpshooting 5th guard at a cheaper price.

I'd gladly trade AD for a defensive wing. Jeffries is a possibility, though I think NY should throw in some thing extra since we're providing cap relief.

Geez, can't we just let the Jeffries thing die. In fact, lets just put the idea of all these former Wizards returning to DC to rest. O-Face, Juan, Arvis, Larry etc. The past is not going to move this organization forward. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't want to revisit the past. Especially with Jeffries, his so-called defense doesn't offset how bad he is. He just plain sucks.

According to today's Examiner (paper, not online), Roy Hibbert is still slotted to be drafted in the 20's, and that the Wizards are not interested.....time to move-on and discuss realistic picks for us at 18. I would guess if Speights is there at 18, then that's our guy.

Well if it's been printed in a newspaper -- the Examiner, no less -- then it must be true.

Other picks that we’re hearing rumors about include #6 (New York, trying to move up, or back), #19 (Cleveland, possibly to move up and take Brandon Rush), and #29 (Detroit, who supposedly isn’t enamored by anyone in this area). Two teams that are reportedly looking to acquire an additional first round pick are the Spurs (who unfortunately have very little to offer) and the Suns. The Wizards wouldn’t mind moving out if someone would offer them a good deal involving a point guard, but at this point that doesn’t seem likely to happen. Cleveland is trying to buy their way into the mid-first round, but unlike in years past, it won’t be Phoenix that is selling.

Yeah, the Examiner is a rag, but it is another source of info, and they have scooped the Post several times on Wiz stuff as has the Moonie Washington Times.

Regardless, it fits-in with everything that's being written about Hibbert......but could end up being totally wrong, it wouldn't be the first time sports writers got it wrong.

Jonathan Wallace working out with the Wiz today.

The Wizards will continue their pre-draft workouts today at Verizon Center. The Wizards will be bringing in the following six players.

Alexis Ajinca - France
Stanley Burrell - Xavier
J.J. Hickson - NC State
Walter Sharpe - UAB
Darian Townes - Arkansas
Jonathan Wallace - Georgetown
The Wizards may bring in players on Tuesday or this could be the last workouts before Draft Day on Tuesday. I will be heading down around 11:30, if you have any questions please let me know.

Wallace would be worth a look in Summer League, especially if we take big Hibbs.

Ajinca won't be there at 18. Hickson will. I think Hickson is going to be a beast, but he should have stayed a year. It may take him a few years to become an impact player though he already has the body. Could have been a lottery pick. I still think they trade out of the first round. Seattle has like fifty picks, though they are trying to move up.

Ajinca & Hickson  This totally made my day that we are working these guys out. I am convinced now that we will be taking BPA big, with Veremeenko & Pesh as potential trade filler. ...or we draft and stash Ajinca while we let Pesh's rook contract run out. Heck, Abe may have told Ernie to get rid of AB for all we know.

As much as I thought that Hibbert would have been the perfect back-up for BTH, I am now excited at the prospect of having an atheletic big in our ranks. Singeltary or Mike taylor in the second would be great.

Agreed. With Robin Lopez now rumored to go to NJ at #10 and Hibbert reportedly continuing to fall, I don't think Ajinca lasts past Toronto at #17. Him and Bosh together could be scary in a couple years.

The other bigs that Toronto has worked could be there at 17 also.

Anyone but a 7' jump shooting PF/C. I would prefer the pick of a player that has a more polished but maybe somewhat limited game as opposed to a big potential guy. Plenty of those already on the team. IMO, getting a role player that can be effictive in this role is the better choice.

That being said if someone drops that shouldn't have, take him.

Totally agree. That's why you can count me in on drafting somebody like Hibbert if he's there, and Chalmers slowly grows on me. And that's why I'm not against trading the pick if the correct opportunity would arise. Outside of Rondo (who went from "potential" to solid pretty quickly), what put the Celts over the hump this year were vets and highly experienced players like Posey, House, Cassell, Brown, and the Big 3. We've got a lot of developing talent as is with Young, Blatche, Pech, and DMac. Give me a Posey/Hunter type for our pick and I'd be more than happy.

Arthur is supposedly going to the Kings (12) and I don't think he'd last past Philly (16). Thompson and Hardin are borderline second round picks so it would really be a reach to take either at 17.

Koufos would be there but I don't think he's what they'd be looking for. He's a high-post center that's short on athleticism (they already have that in Rasho). Since they are already such a perimeter oriented team, my thought is that they'd want somebody who's gonna be effective inside, especially defensively.

My guess is that they'd prefer to get Robin Lopez because he's got the size/hustle/defense that they need and he'll be able to contribute right away. Ajinca is probably their Plan B. He won't have as immediate an impact but his upside is huge. If I'm Colangelo, I take a chance on him instead of going for a guy with limited potential like Hibbert/Thompson/Hardin or a duplicate of what I already have like Koufos.
