I could forsee a scenario where Hammond basically sent out word to every GM that the #8 was available for the best young veteran that was offered. Several pitches came bac,, ranging from semi crappy to semi decent. After sifting through the carnage, Hinrich was the most enticing option, and a player at the position of the greatest need. Hammond talks to Skiles, Skiles gives it the ok. Then talks shift to making it work cap wise. Hammond offers Bobby and 8 to match up the numbers, but Paxson says he only makes the deal if he gets back expiring contracts. Throwing in Mason and CV seems really steep to Hammonds, so he puts it on the table in the file folder labeled "best offer to date" and that is where we find ourselves now.
That, in my opinion, is a vere reasonable scenario. I don't see the Bulls interested in Mason or CV, its just that Pax wants those expiring contracts.
Also, our lack of contingincies (other players worked out higher and lower) scares me a little. As if whatever is going to happen is already agreed on.
