If he doesnt work, he expires next season anyways. We also pick up a VERY solid PG. This guy avgd 15-15-6 at the end of the season in like 7 games (he played 16 total last season). Thats some amazing play, and he may not be a 15-15-6 guy over a season, but as a backup with 20 mpg, he could easily be a 8-6-2 guy with 1 TO and on 45FG% + 403PT%. Mason would also increase our free throw attempts if he gets burn, which we desperately need.
You are taking a big risk on Sessions and Mason. Barbs averaged over 20 points a game as a starter last season, and you are willing to trade him for an expiring and I a guy who has had "like" 7 good games! Barbs is on a good contract, there is no reason to move him, just to move him.
Barbs shouldn't be moved unless he brings back a starter at the 2 or 3 for us. None of this potential crap! No Julius Hodges, no Ramon Sessions, no Desmond Masons! The idea of making a trade is to get better. The only way we can get better by moving Barbs is by adding a legitimate starter, and moving Bell or Hill to the bench to be our new 6th man. There are no 6th man candidates out there who are available for us that are going to be more successful than Barbosa. If we can move him to a team that has an abundance of guys at the wing, that would be ideal. No bringing in guys who didn't start on a non-playoff team to replace Barbs, or two bench players for him for that matter.
Didn't you suggest Stephen Jackson for Barbs straight up on the general forum? Maybe it was someone else. Anyhow, we have Barbs value being set as a staight up deal for Jackson, or for Webster, a filler, and a 2nd rounder or for Maggette and then you have the audacity to defend Sessions and Mason with us adding a future first, SERIOUSLY? What year would that be, 2012? Or would we call it future considerations and send our 2009 pick to them after we drafted. I don't mean to hate so much, but aren't we still in a win now situation? And essentially what you are saying is Barbs is not even worth Sessions, since you have Mason walking when his contract expires and you have us including a pick.
And the kicker is if you are right about Sessions, and he puts up good numbers, we probably wouldn't resign him either, for he will be an unrestriced free agent after this season. So, that would leave things at Barbs + 1st rounder for nothing!
And I don't even want to start on his 3PT%, you do realize he only took 7 shots from behind the arc. Meaning Barbs has taken almost 1400 more threes in NBA games than him, and done so at an impressive clip, 41%. Plus, Barbs is only 25.
And then, just one more point, you disregarded DJ and Tucks play in the DLeague because they didn't play there for an entire season, despite doing things while there, that NONE of the player you suggested bringing in could have done for a 5 game stretch(check out the box scores, if you take Hodges best 5 games his numbers are still not as good as DJ or Tucks). And then in this post, you applaud Sessions for a 7 game stretch. Leaving out that the Bucks got blown or beat in all the games and he was not playing elite competition, may as well have been in the DLeague for all its worth!
