Anyone who thinks a rookie will peak at 16-4-4 is a moron, and you should have never been discussing the topic with them in the first place.

I hope you're still so against people predicting the future if someone said Beasely will never be as good as Barkley or something. It's not to say that the difference between the two is the same, but it's pretty easy to say that someone isn't going to be among the best of all-time- it's also not as easy but still safe to say Roy isn't going to touch Wade's peak, even if that already passed.

I mean, it's not like a random prediction like there will be an earthquake in Missouri tomorrow. It's got some solid reasoning behind it.

I'll go Roy, slightly ahead of Wade.

Wow as if roy even has this many votes. Healthy Wade is easily a top 5 player in the league.

I had spent eons pondering the lack of voting disparity in this thread, as my cognitive dissonance simply could not get the overwhelming voting for Roy to match my respect for each individual as a basketball player. But then I happened upon a gem of epic proportions. After days spent sifting through the thread for intelligent commentary, this diamond in the rough shone through and above all else. For it was not a statistic or a comparison or a youtube clip. It was an elaborate treatise on the comparative value to each player and his franchise, and how that progression going forward would have Roy creating more value for the Blazers than Wade ever could for the Miami Heat. It showed how the entire 2006 Miami Heat title run was a farce, that Dwyane Wade's elaborate statistical accomplishments were merely a figment of my overactive imagination, and how Brandon Roy is a shining example of what the top-5 pick from 2003 could possibly become. Sir, you have shown me the way.

In light of these revelations, my vote for RealGM post of the year goes to AnSweR07...

Is this a joke? Roy has a better long range shot but what else is he better at, Clutch shots? Nope ! Rebouding? Nope! Attacking the Basket? Nope! Wade is a legit top 10 in the nba, Roy is a questionable top 20 player in the league.

What a great thread! Just kidding...but for kicks let's compare the head to head matchups between Roy and Wade (two of my favorite players) this last season:

Roy: 38.5 mins .536 FG% 4.5 rebs 5.5 ast 24.5 pts 2 wins
Wade: 41.5 mins .418 FG% 5.5 rebs 7.5 ast 29.0 pts 2 losses

Wade actually had more fg attempts against the Blazers this year than any team other than Philadelphia who he played against three times. Weird. Obviously his shot was not so accurate against the mighty Blazer defense in 07/08. I look forward to the future matchups! Wade is one of the most entertaining basketball players on the planet and unlike a lot of NBA stars not obnoxiously smug and self centered.

Roy is the perfect team oriented player with a knack for delivering in crucial situations.

Wade is a superstar who has delivered big time in the most crucial situations on the biggest stage in the NBA.

Apples or oranges?
Yes.

I expect Roy to continue improving this year. I doubt it will be long before he's considered one of the top 5 shooting guards in the league. A Roy / Wade backcourt would work quite well on an NBA team btw. Quite well!

I would take a permanently hobbled Wade over a healthy Roy for the next 10 years in a nanosecond.
