That's because over here you find
PACKER FANS not FAVRE FANS. Favre is screwing this franchise. That doesn't make Packers fans happy.
I didn't know that these 2 things were mutually exclusive; in the past I thought the opposite.
I agree with DB on the existence of Packer fans/Favre fans.
First of all, Brett Favre has spoiled me. I am 21, and basically ever since I've been able to really pay attention to the Packers Brett has been carrying them to winning seasons. He rules.
That said, it's past his time. And if it wasn't, he shouldn't be screwing the franchise over. The Bucks are terrible, the Brewers are extremely fun to watch but have been the worst franchise in baseball since the early 90's in terms of post-season success (none) and I won't consider them successful until they make it there.
Therefore, I need one professional sports team to do well. It has always been the Packers and contrary to Favre fans' beliefs, they have an excellent GM in place to continue the path of success they've been on. Actually, he did a great job at surrounding Brett Favre for a chance to win now as well. There was the Moss mistake, but I can't tell you how many Packer fans DIDN'T want him back then and when they saw his season they suddenly said they wanted him all along.
Anyways, win-now is always a good idea...but if you are faced with the choice of an outside chance of winning now with a risk of Favre laying an egg in the playoffs, and then maybe going into a Chicago Bears drought of trying to find a QB, that's fine. The other option is maybe taking a step back this year (however, we don't know) and hopefully opening a 5-7 year window of possible post season success. Or heck, we could go with the Favre loving/TT hating plan and bring in Daniel Graham for $40 million and Travis Henry so we could "win now" last year.
Either way, from a Packer fan that adores Favre, however also has a level head about sustaining a franchise...he needs to stop being whiny ASAP.
