That's because over here you find PACKER FANS not FAVRE FANS. Favre is screwing this franchise. That doesn't make Packers fans happy.

How is Favre screwing the franchise? I really don't understand the big deal if Favre comes back and QBs the Packers. Aaron Rodgers is just a backup QB. Guys like that are a dime a dozen.

I really doubt that the Packers have completely changed their offense. So let Favre come back and QB. Not a big deal.

I didn't know that these 2 things were mutually exclusive; in the past I thought the opposite.

I agree with DB on the existence of Packer fans/Favre fans.

First of all, Brett Favre has spoiled me. I am 21, and basically ever since I've been able to really pay attention to the Packers Brett has been carrying them to winning seasons. He rules.

That said, it's past his time. And if it wasn't, he shouldn't be screwing the franchise over. The Bucks are terrible, the Brewers are extremely fun to watch but have been the worst franchise in baseball since the early 90's in terms of post-season success (none) and I won't consider them successful until they make it there.

Therefore, I need one professional sports team to do well. It has always been the Packers and contrary to Favre fans' beliefs, they have an excellent GM in place to continue the path of success they've been on. Actually, he did a great job at surrounding Brett Favre for a chance to win now as well. There was the Moss mistake, but I can't tell you how many Packer fans DIDN'T want him back then and when they saw his season they suddenly said they wanted him all along.

Anyways, win-now is always a good idea...but if you are faced with the choice of an outside chance of winning now with a risk of Favre laying an egg in the playoffs, and then maybe going into a Chicago Bears drought of trying to find a QB, that's fine. The other option is maybe taking a step back this year (however, we don't know) and hopefully opening a 5-7 year window of possible post season success. Or heck, we could go with the Favre loving/TT hating plan and bring in Daniel Graham for $40 million and Travis Henry so we could "win now" last year.

Either way, from a Packer fan that adores Favre, however also has a level head about sustaining a franchise...he needs to stop being whiny ASAP.

Read the Silverstein article in the other thread, and the jsonline Packer blog. Favre has changed his mind not once but TWICE which really makes you question whether his heart is into it and if he is 100% committed.

There is also the issue of TT and MM coming to a final decision in April that Favre was not going to come back. They basically told Rodgers and the rest of the team "Favre isn't coming back. We are moving on with Aaron as the QB and looking towards the future and that's our final decision." If they bring back Favre they're basically going back on their word and it makes the team question who really holds the power within the organization.

Why is it past his time? If he had one of his best seasons EVER, just last year.

It's like I said. They genuinely feel Rodgers will be the better QB for the team next year. That's why they want Favre as the #2, and not because they're playing mind games.

I love how these reporters keep running with some quotes. TT stated him self that he has never said that Brett would be a back up. He was asked by a reporter if Favre would be welcomed back as a back up or as a coach, and TT said that he wouldn't coach. He didn't say that he would be the second stringer.

When Jordan came back there is a famous quote by Steve Kerr. Jud Buchler and he were driving to practice and Jud ask Kerr is Jordan would start. Kerr responded with "Guy with huge bronze statues out in front of the Stadium don't come off the bench".

If Favre does come back, (he has yet to file his papers with the commish) he will come to camp, and wether he has to win it or not, he will be the starter, IMO. There is no other way around it.

I am not a Favre lover, or a TT hater. I am a Packers fan, and like it or not, Brett gives us the best chance now.

Its of your OPINION that Favre would give us the best chance to win now. Its of the coaches/GM's opinion that A-rod would give the team its best chance of winning. I'll take their opinion over yours.

No. The coach's/GM have NOT said as much. TT has stated that he really can't speculate what is going to happen since Favre hasn't filed papers to be taken off the retired list. Once he does that he will be a GB Packer. He stated that he couldn't comment on his role until that happens.

It would be dumb of him to state that if Favre comes back he will be the starter, because as of right now Brett hasn't filed said paper work.

So, either they then work out a trade, which I believe is unlikely. Most likely. Brett is under center to start the Season.

BS. They're afraid their investment in Rodgers will go to waste because he won't want to sign if Favre is brought back. If they honestly think that Rodgers, who has never started a game, is going to give them a better chance to win than the NFC MVP of last year, then they shouldn't be in their respective positions.

another solid artle of the 10000000 written already.

Main point, as I see it. If TT brings Brett back, hands him back the keys to his team, all of the pressure is now on Brett. If Brett plays bad, and the Packers are not winning, take him out and then sit him.

If Rodgers is the QB, and we are not winning, and it is December and we are out the playoffs, then all of the heat is on TT.
