It isn't about young vs old it is about a balance of the two. The Spurs and Suns looked too old.
The problem with Posey's contract isn't that it is a year too long it may be 3 years too long. The track record of guys like Posey at this point in there career is not good. Frankly very few basketball players excell through 32-35.
Either way champioships are not decided by players 6-10 on your roster. While benches play a roll they just don't win or lose you championships.
First of all, the word, "there" refers to a place. "Their" is the possessive one.
2nd of all, it's not a debate of young vs. old. It's about proven vs. unproven. Chris Paul, David West and Chandler are all proven players. Yes, they are pretty young, but they have shown results. They won a ton of games and were on the verge of getting to the finals. So I'd say, that's being proven. What JHTruth said was referring only to age. Which is why I said you can't just concentrate on a player's age, as an end all be all. There have been plenty of players who played well into their mid-30s and also plenty of players who are once young, but never really improved to become the great players people expected them to become.
Yes, you are correct in saying that you don't win championships with players 6-10. You need the top guys to put you in position to succeed before the little things can put you over. However, considering how close they were last year, I don't think they needed to make huge changes to the roster. I think it's likely that a small boost in their bench with someone like Posey can put them over. Maybe not, but it's certainly a positive move and the Hornets are in the win-now mode. Yes, Chris Paul is very young, but that doesn't mean they aren't in the win-now mode. It just means that they can be in the win-now mode for a long time.
