Chiefs Shopping Larry Johnson?

Post#1 » by straightguji » Wed Apr 25, 2007 10:18 pm

I just saw this on PTI, supposedly LJ wants a contract in the range of 60+ million and the Chiefs feel they can find a replacement in the draft for much cheaper.

Wilbon also said that the Chiefs are in negotiations with 4 teams and he believes himself that LJ will get traded.

All I gotta say is wow, LJ is the 2nd best RB in the league after LT and the Chiefs should keep him in KC no matter how much he's asking, I don't understand why they would place him on the trade block.

I would trade him in a second if I could get a great package of players in return.

I hate when people claim someone as the "best" or second best RB. I think unless all things are equal you can't judge that so easily.

On topic, Chiefs are stupid.

Whoever signs him will be hugely dissapointed. He's due for a "Eddie George in 2001", "Ricky Williams and Jamal Lewis in 2004" like breakdown...

Nobody escapes the curse of 400+ carries
First the federal government borrowed money; then gave the money to Bank of America; then I borrowed some of that money from Bank of America and gave it to the federal government; then the federal government gave the money back to Bank of America.

Oddly enough, I don't think any of the three guys I mentioned had over 400+ Carries the previous season...
I think we might have to reduce it to the curse of the 375+ carries or something.

An 8-year deal would be ridiculous, even for someone like Larry Johnson. And its not like the Chiefs have had a bad track record with replacing running backs, they replaced Priest Holmes quite easily

I'd be really surprised if he plays over 10 games and/or gets over 1200 yards and/or gets over 4 yards a carry.

Considering he plays the easiest position to replace, is asking for a lot of money and is going to break down any day now I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole.

Dude's a headcase too.

PASS!

I can't wait till Fantasy Football season starts, and everyone drafts him with a first rounder, and then proceed to get angry when he doesn't perform up to standard, and all the analysts are surprised by it.

We're talking about this on the Packers board, as the Packers are one of the teams involved. The following is a quote from an Adam Schefter article on NFL.Com:

The Chiefs have spoken with the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills and possibly others, but have not found anything close to a taker.

EDIT: Sorry, here's the link: http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/10147306

It's been reported that the Packers have offered their first and fourth round picks in this year's draft for LJ.

If anyone wants further details just check out the Packers board. I'm too lazy. It's from the Scout Network, though.

A curse worse than Madden's.
