vince carter and his superstar contract? you haven't been paying attention if u think the lakers consider him.

odom/mihm for prince/mcdyess? that trade makes no sense for the pistons. who exactly plays sf for them? odom? are the pistons blind to why the lakers would be trading him away in the first place? the inclusion of a good backup big like mcdyess makes it a borderline horrible deal for them.

Cash4 the salary that they will pay Odom this yrs will match Vince's minus 700k. So that is a wash, in year two the would add around 10 million that is a given, However in yrs three it would be the last yrs of contracts of Gasol, Kobe and Vince and Vlad's player opt that could be bought out. And as many teams learn in a cap based market a pending exp contract is very valuble in the last yrs.

And regardless in the 4th yrs they'd have around 20 million total in salary w/ a nucleaus of Bynum and Farmar. So any monies they would lose on the intial Vince investment would even out in a matter of time.

If it is truly about winning it is worth a shot I think, it is essentially a 2 yrs project maybe just one pending what Vince's exp contract would give the Lakers in yrs three.

I will say this their were rumors of Vince going to Cleveland for Wally Scerzbiak's exp deal a while back and if anyone doubts the impact of Vince Carter--you'll all see if Lebron gets Vince as his second opition, the Lakers won't have to worry about Boston it will be Cleveland....

Lakeshow you lost me at "natural SF"

Carter is a natural 2, much like Kobe he could play 36 mpg defending 6-8 and 6-9 threes, he could slide up for some minutes but would be redundant with kb24.

Off the dribble scorer? Perhaps a Tex Winter's triangle refresher is needed. Maybe if Neelie was coach a VC, Kobe three guard line up but not now.

Vince'll contribute 15 a game? Whoo hoo. Oh wait, LO is already ripped for his inconsistent 15 ppg but at least he is willing to subjugate his game to the other scorers.

When NJ had RJ I might've seen the logic, not w Vince.

Vince is a great fit and the way Vince goes about scoring 15 ppg for the Lakers would be dramaticly different. What I'm referring to the Boston Celtics and their brand of defence. The vaunted triangle couldn't do much versus this type of defence, what was needed was some one that could dribble drive and finish at the rim, something Vince is known for not Lamar Odom. Yes, Kobe could do that but they weren't allowing him to do so by overloading his side, Vince's abilty to cut and finish, off of Kobe, would be vital. Sasha, Vlad, Lamar and Fish could not put the pressure on the Celtics and get to the line enough to make the Celtics pay.

As well, Vince would allow Kobe to rest more in games of that importance and wouldn't let the lead to get bigger and bigger while he was out, something that Lamar couldn't do versus Boston.

Another plus Vince would add is putting pressure on Paul Pierce or Ray Allen, making them guard either Kobe or Vince and not Kobe and Vlad which to say the least was a problem. Sure PP and Ray would get theirs but Kobe and Vince would def get theirs.

That being said the Lakers' might buzz through the Western Confrence again w/ Lamar and be able to take another shot at Boston, minus Posey, and get it done w/ a healty Bynum but w/ that Boston D I think the same things might come up. In that finals series as a glimmer of hope was the play of Farmar, he was able to do somethings in limited minutes such as getting to the rim and finishing more effective than Fish.

And to your question about natural sf, it dont' matter Vince could play the SF and Kobe as well it is not like everyteam has a killer SF like Paul Pierce. Lakers got Vlad, Spurs got Bowen, Phx got G Hill, Portland Outlaw, NWO got Posey not excatly offensive killers.

I looked over your proposal about Vince Carter and I like the financial aspect of it. I mean, if you're going to be way into the luxury tax might as well do it for a bankable star. I don't think that it makes any sense basketball wise. How are you going to find shots for all of these people? Kobe needs 20-25 shots. Pau needs his shots. Bynum, like all big men, needs the offense to be run through him at times to stay active in the game. Then you add in the bench mob and the shots that you have to find for Fisher, Farmar, Vujacic, Vlad, Walton, Ariza. There really isn't a demanding need for another volume scorer. We averaged 108 ppg as a team. You brought up that Vince could be another dribble penetrator, but Vince is Charmin ultra soft and has shown that more and more as his career has gone on. He has become more and more content hanging out at the 3 point line. And my last point is that Vince Carter has been the focal point of his teams offense for every year that he has been in the league. Do you think that he would be happy scoring 15 ppg while he is still able to score in the 20s? VC would start pouting real quick when he starts getting 10 shots a game and the ball doesn't find his hands. Think Sam Cassell with the Celtics and how he would kill their offensive flow when he entered games by jacking up a shot every time the ball touched his hands. He was so disruptive that they played Eddie House instead of him when Cassell is the superior player. The Lakers were good last year because the had the right mix of players and personalities and I think that Vince Carter would damage both of those factors.

I'd like Prince.

I'd hate to get even worse at D with Carter on board.

Pistons probably need a fresh face in there, so they might go for it.

Prince would add a defensive versitility we have not had since Michael Cooper.

Pistons fans on their board say they would seriously consider Odom and Ariza for Prince and McDyess... but of course fans dont make the trades

How about Gooden + Noc for Odom + 1 st rd pick

you get a REAL starting SF in Noc that can shoot, go to the hole, and defend

you get a great backup big man in Gooden

and you can afford to give up the the pick because you will get a really bad one anyway

Fish/Farmar
Kobe/Vujacic
Noc/Vlad/Luke
Pau/Gooden
Bynum/Gooden/Mihm

Too many sf's on our roster. We'd need to move Luke or Vlad.

I like the depth it would bring, but I've never been a fan of Noc

Yeah. Don't see any reason why we should even consider a deal like that. Why would we be looking for a PF when we have Gasol?

The deal fails to plug any hole in our roster. It doesn't give us a strong perimeter defender at the 3 to play next to Kobe (Nocioni is average at best) to take some defensive pressure off him, and it doesn't improve our PG situation.

Basically, the deal only makes us worse, and that's without even thinking about the 1st rounder.

Why would the Lakers need another PG? especially one with a contract as ugly as Tinleys

Tinsley's contract > Luke's contract

Tinsley's not going to play a lot of minutes anyways. Plus, if either Fisher or Farmar goes down, we have Tinsley. He's basically an insurance for us.

Yup seems there is interest in Luke + Mihm for Tinsley on the NBA trade boards.

Hope this isn't like a "no-no" but here is the response I had earlier to the same question on the Trade board....please don't be offended by my harsh critique...but hey it's just IMO:

In response to IND fan consideration:

Player 2008/2009 2009/2010 2010/2011 2011/2012 2012/2013 2013./2014
Luke Walton $4,420,000 $4,840,000 $5,260,000 $5,680,000 $5,800,000 FA
Chris Mihm $2,500,000 FA
-4-

Player 2008/2009 2009/2010 2010/2011 2011/2012 2012/2013 2013/2014
Jamaal Tinsley $6,750,000 $7,200,000 $7,650,000 FA

I gotta say......you must REALLY hate Tinsley or just want him gone...I mean does a tiny bit of cap space help in the next 2-3 year period justify this trade off? I know you have made solid NBA caliber players out of Mike D. and to a lesser extent Murphy.. :P ...but is Lucky "I fit the triangle Contract" Luke Walton the next in the great white lineage? Or just simply salary cap fodder? I hope the former, cuz you are stuck with this guy for awhile.

OK, I already see, media brainwashed fellow Laker fan yelling at me and how Luke can get healthy, magically retain his jumper (which was poor...prior to getting poorer) from yesteryear and magically fit into Phillups motha F'N triangle as the "smart player." I simply don't want to hear it anymore, I would bet allot that Lucky NEVER returns to his previous not so glorious forum....and even if he does we paid him based on more potential than that.

LESS YEARS <<<<< ON CONTRACT ++ EARLIER EXPIRING CONTRACT ++ POSSIBLE BUY OUT === Good for LAL

I just see Tinsley being injured all the time and I believe he has the worst true shooting % of anyone in the NBA who averaged over 10 ppg.... I'd rather have Luke tbh
