Now, an improved Martin is #1 option for the upcoming season. This move IMO guarantees Martin to be in at least in the top 5 of scoring IMO.
Just because he's the main go to guy now doesn't mean he'll suddenly score 33 ppg. I can easily say that Kevin Martin will average 2 more points per game, but with more shot attempts and a poorer field goal percentage than the previous season because defense will collapse on him now that he's the main guy.
Well, yeah. He won't average 33 points per game. But time and time again, he is still a super efficient guard. He will find a way to score more and maintain efficiency. But you made an inaccurate statement: " defense will collapse on him now that he's the main guy." Are you inferring that defense hasn't collapse on him yet? No, your wrong. He is facing the best defenses in the league since 1 yr and half. Bowen, Battier, Prince, Howard, AK47 and etc. I still can't believe people (not directing to you, ToffBosh...well a little)are doubting Martin for 3 years. That just amuses me. He is proven to be an All Star-guard talent.
Let's put this in perspective, in the last 20 games of the season, here are Martin's averages:
26.2/4.0/2.1/1.2 Shooting at 49.1% FG @ 14.9 shot attempts and 42% 3s And averaging 11.2 FTs per game @ 88%
This is the last 20 games, when games are tight and intense, especially the west playoffs race. So, he is still effective and efficient while facing tough defenses.
I'm not saying that he will average 50% FG for the whole season but he will shoot at respectable %s and maintaining significant efficiency though. Even though, the mention averages, that he averaged was like 25% of the season.
