If by "most scoring opportunities" you mean most times beating his man (or 2 men) off the dribble and then finishing off of no set play, then yes he will have the most opportunities to score.

LeBron really has very few scoring opportunities because he has a coach that doesnt run offensive plays, and he doesnt have teammates that can beat you off the dribble. If he had the amount of scoring opportunties that a player of his caliber should, he would lead the league in scoring by a 3-4 point per game margin.

He will still lead the league in scoring, but maybe by less than one ppg.

It's too early to tell.

We're not even halfway through Olympic competition.

But if I were a betting man, I'd say LeBron.

Wade is playing fantastic, but he's scoring most of his points on penetration and in transition. Those baskets will be harder to come by as Team USA's competition improves.

Seems like alot of folks are leaving Iverson out of their list. He'll probably be in the top 5....top 10 at the worst. He is going to be a free agent after the season so he's gonna be extra motivated. Here's my list:

LeBron
The only reliable offensive option on his team.

Kobe
Of couse he's gonna be in the top 3, he may lead the league in scoring even with Bynum, Gasol and Odom around.

Kevin Martin
One more year of maturity and Artest is now gone.

AI
He's gonna perform in his free agent year.

Arenas
He's back from injury and he's still playing in Eddie Jordan's system.

edit:
Wade
damn..how could I forget Wade. I don't thin he'll lead the league with Beasley and Marion around.

Melo
He's continuing to work on other aspects of his game while AI shoots the rock.

Amare
He'll continue to improve post surgery.

Monta Ellis
Without Baron around, Monta will have the ball in his hands alot more. He'll have a field day being the number 1 option in Nellie's system.

Dirk
It's unfathomable to think that Dirk won't average somewhere in the 20s but Rick Carlisle might have other plans.

Vince Carter
He's now the definitive number 1 option on his team.

Falling out of the top 10
Redd
With Richard Jefferson around, he'll get fewer shots.

Richared Jefferson
Sure he played with Vince Carter and still managed to average over 22 pts but he's on a new team, with a new system with a new coach.

Chris Bosh
Jermaine O'neal will take some touches from him but he'll still get plenty of shots. I see him averaging just a few less points per game...just enough to take him out of the top 10.
When Vinny Del Negro sends in his taxes, he sends blank forms and includes only a picture of himself, crouched and ready to attack. Vinny Del Negro has not had to pay taxes ever.

There are people leaving Martin from their list. Which I think it's strange. Martin was #2 option behind Artest and #3 option behind Bibby, when he had the last stint in Sacramento. He still was #6 scorer of the NBA.

Now, an improved Martin is #1 option for the upcoming season. This move IMO guarantees Martin to be in at least in the top 5 of scoring IMO.

Through 4 pages, only one mention of Monta Ellis, comon guys.
With baron out, and in the run n gun system, I wouldn't be surprised if Monta averaged in the 25-30 ppg..
But Other than that, the clear winner would be Lebron.

Just because he's the main go to guy now doesn't mean he'll suddenly score 33 ppg. I can easily say that Kevin Martin will average 2 more points per game, but with more shot attempts and a poorer field goal percentage than the previous season because defense will collapse on him now that he's the main guy.

Well, yeah. He won't average 33 points per game. But time and time again, he is still a super efficient guard. He will find a way to score more and maintain efficiency. But you made an inaccurate statement: " defense will collapse on him now that he's the main guy." Are you inferring that defense hasn't collapse on him yet? No, your wrong. He is facing the best defenses in the league since 1 yr and half. Bowen, Battier, Prince, Howard, AK47 and etc. I still can't believe people (not directing to you, ToffBosh...well a little)are doubting Martin for 3 years. That just amuses me. He is proven to be an All Star-guard talent.

Let's put this in perspective, in the last 20 games of the season, here are Martin's averages:

26.2/4.0/2.1/1.2 Shooting at 49.1% FG @ 14.9 shot attempts and 42% 3s And averaging 11.2 FTs per game @ 88%

This is the last 20 games, when games are tight and intense, especially the west playoffs race. So, he is still effective and efficient while facing tough defenses.

I'm not saying that he will average 50% FG for the whole season but he will shoot at respectable %s and maintaining significant efficiency though. Even though, the mention averages, that he averaged was like 25% of the season.

Kevin Martin's numbers in 15 games without Ron Artest last season:

Code: Select all

| FG%  | 3PT% | FT%  | MPG   | RPG  | APG  | TOV  | SPG  | BPG  | PF   | PPG  |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| 0.48 | 0.42 | 0.89 | 37.93 | 4.33 | 1.93 | 2.27 | 1.53 | 0.20 | 2.20 | 28.7 |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He posted those numbers against fairly competent teams as well...

- Against Portland
- At Golden State
- At Denver
- At Memphis
- Against Minnesota
- Against Dallas
- Against Indiana
- At Phoenix
- At Utah
- Against Minnesota
- Against Cleveland
- Against Seattle
- At Dallas
- At San Antonio
- At New Orleans

...Although the Kings only recorded a record of 5-10 during that span.

Kevin Martin is going to be a player to keep an eye on next year, he has good endurance and Sacramento doesn't exactly have a lot of quality depth, so Martin should be playing big minutes on a team without many legitimate scoring options.

One other thing to note though was that during those 15 games without Artest, Martin averaged 12.2 free throw attempts per game, given his relatively thin body and need to add more upper body strength it's hard to see Martin keeping that up for a whole 82 game season...

Thanks for the info NetsForce. Yeah, the only thing I see is a concern is that 5-10 record. But when Artest missed the first 7 games of the season due to a suspension. The Kings were w/o him and a legit PG. We have to start Orien Greene. And we had a rookie coach in Theus and we were still learning his gameplan. We were 2-5 for the first 7 games. And that record was at times w/o Artest and Miller and Udrih. So, technically, it isn't really Artest was out for the 15 games, there were player(s) as well were missing.

Yeah, that 12.2 FTs attempts are superstar level. I don't think that he will maintain that IMO. But he did averaged 9.5 FTs attempts for the season though. And was #1 FTs made per game. He will probably averaged like 10 FTs per game.

Yeah, stature is a bit in the light side. But I think it is ideal for him. Even though, he did put 15 pounds of muscle last offseason. He was probably 200 lbs last season. Even though, they list him 185 lbs. That is like Rip/Allen range stature IMO. But yeah, he needs a little bit more muscle to keep up that high FTs attempts (12).

I don't know, Maggette will replace Baron's scoring and will probably decide to pass less to others as well.
