in war, a plan is perfect until the first shot is fired, then the rest is reaction. this is the same thing. we have a plan, but the moment the season starts it could all go out the door if a) the rooks are not ready, b) nash gets inujred, or c) some other unforeseen thing happens

Mr. Barbosa, your minutes at back up PG are ready.

he has already been given the backup job and proven not up to the challenge. maybe he gets better, but i doubt it. he is just not naturally a pg

IMO,
I have to believe the team not going to try to accomplish the things they do when Nash is on the floor.

The team appeared to only have one style of offensive play that it was comfortable w/ for the last few years. (also appears defense wasn't practiced much)

The team must ADJUST the way the Celtics did when Eddie House was on the floor. House is not a natural PG, neither was Vinnie Johnson.

If the Celts can succeed w/ House, so can the Suns.

The Hill, Bell, and the other SG they bring in must be able to assume more handling duties in the half court.

That the team becomes more of a half court team when Nash is out is OK.

I want to see the Nash get that pick and roll magic back that he used to have. It seemed like the addition of Shaq hurt that.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

It's always going to be hard for Nash to see how the team could possibly work without him playing those lengthy minutes - that's all he ever saw with D'Antoni at the helm.

I guess we'll see soon enough at season start if the bench is capable of helping alleviate Nash's load - I'm sure he'll play plenty of minutes in tight, tough games however, but I think Porter will find a way to shave a bit off his average, but possibly not limit the amount of games he plays this season. I think he'll play more than 70 if healthy, probably 75-78 games.

HootieRules and Flanpaw42 are correct. Kerr’s theory went out the window when he signed two unproven rookies.

I disagree Great. Barbosa should not be handling the ball in the half court set. He can bring it up, but please, give it up asap. When he has it, he puts his head down and drives, or shoots. He is a scorer, and he is not a vinny J, or same Cassell. Barbs is a undersize SG, always will be. He has had enough chances to show he can handle the backup duties, and the guy is not capable mentally. Hes soft, and does not have high bball IQ.

Hill did not do that great of a job as a facilitator either. Diaw again, was not as good, and Barns can do it. One of the reasons why House did well is because you had 3 very good passers, who were unselfish as a TEAM! KG, Pierce, Allen, all can pass, and become better passers. Barbs can play that position, and it all depends on how Porter does as a coach, and how the players come together and buy into the system.

Nash needs to be limited, but if this team wants to win it, they have to come together and do it. Im just not as confident this squad can do it.

I disagree about Vinnie Johnson. Vinnie Johnson was an undersized shooting guard who looked to score.

True, for Barbs to play the position they need the other players to be good passers.

The offense must change to the personel.
