There it is again. Seahawks driving for a TD, looking good, then that foreboding feeling starts sinking in...a deflected pass intercepted, and returned almost the entire length of the field for a 49er TD.

Being a Seattle sport's fan is an effing byatch these days.

I think I'm about to pack it in as a sport's fan.

1) Sonics now in OKC, sold down the river by everybody but the Sonic fans.
2) Mariners 57-91, last place, another bad year, little hope in sight for a turnaround next year or the year following.
3) Husky football team starts off 0-3 on its way to yet another bottom feeding year.
4) Seahawks snake-bitten with injuries, making mistake after mistake after mistake the first two games so far, already looking like it's a pipe dream to think of them as true NFC title contenders.

Blah....

Bumpus steps up in the clutch. Nice to see. You made the team. LOL

Carlson is looking good to me, too, as is Julius Jones. There are some things on the O side that have been encouraging.

At least in spite of their mistakes, they're taking their timeouts correctly.

Good Lord! Our luck he pulls that FG to the left.

We BETTER win this game now.

We gave that game away on a platter to them.

Ugh!

It's gonna be a long frustrating year. I think I'm checking out for awhile. I can only handle so much hideousness as a Seattle sport's fan. I'm limit up now.

How the...what the...

I just don't have anything. There's no reason for this.

Why didn't I just go fishing today?

Well, that was a steaming pile of garbage. Turnovers killed us, as did their passing game despite a seemingly decent pass rush. They found holes in the middle of our zone all day long and the safeties seemed to give zero help over the top on deep routes. Arizona's 2-0, we're not...quite a hole to dig out of.

Jones and Carlson looked fantastic. That's all.

Also, give Seahawks fans credit for being perceptive. First kick Ryan shanked and he was booed heavily. I think everyone realizes cutting Plack was a panic move and placing blame on the wrong shoulders. The only kick Ryan hit well was a punt that screamed into the endzone...Plack would've kept that sucker between the 10 and the endzone. Their special teams, from top to bottom, is a disaster.

Hasn't Mare shown enough to be the lone kicker on the roster? Let Coutu go, and call Adams up. Gives you an option over Russell and helps the special teams out.

Well at least it was a beautiful day out, Sweezo. :)

Isn't it a b*tch being a Seattle sport's fan now? The Seahawks are about all we have to hitch our wagons to, and they are completely snake-bitten by injuries, and making mistakes that this team shouldn't be making:

1) Blown coverages, even though the pass rush succeeded (like you correctly stated)
2) Horrible penalities at key moments
3) Bad special team performances
4) Dropped passes
5) Spirit KILLING turnovers

I agree that Carlson has been a bright spot, as was Jones. I actually saw some things out of our offense yesterday that were encouraging, especially given our depleted ranks and the awful mistakes we've been making at the worst times. I was hoping beyond hope we could just escape with a win, and then build upon the bright spots, and work on eliminating the mistakes we've been making.

Unfortunately, we lost. We just couldn't get the W and keep ourselves out of a this deeper early season hole. This loss took a lot out of me. I'm practically in exile from being a Seattle sport's fan for awhile.

It's a mental health thing. LOL

And at this point, I'm pinning that all on the safeties. Although Josh Wilson doesn't look particularly fantastic at nickel. I'm not astute enough as an observer to look at a defense, tell you who's going to have what assignment, and tell you which safety blew his assignment. But Grant seems to be in place to make plays from time to time. Russell never is. Only thing I remember Russell doing was making a headfirst dive on a sliding QB that was arguably a roughing penalty. Speaking of which...

Thinking back, I recall a tauting/unsportsmanlike penalty by Jackson and two defensive pass interference calls that put the ball on the two yard line that really frustrated me. And from where I was sitting in the nosebleed sections, and after watching the replay...I thought all three were trash. Maybe the taunting was there but God...it was a young player making his first huge play in the league. And if you watched Jackson, he was hyped. I don't think he was trying to show anyone up so much as he was having a little too much fun.

BTW...I like Jackson. A lot.

Bulltalk wrote:3) Bad special team performances

The punting game looks high-school worthy. Maybe. Well, not Texas high-school worthy...

Bulltalk wrote:4) Dropped passes

I didn't see too many this week. Putting Carlson in for Putzier made a huge difference. The biggest problem I see with the receivers is an inability to get separation from their defender. Hence the "run alot of short routes up the middle and curl routes outside."

Bulltalk wrote:5) Spirit KILLING turnovers

Some of them seemed like a by-product of simply bad luck. Hass' interceptions...maybe he forced it a bit, but nothing completely horrible. McMullen's fumble was completely avoidable though; When you're running with the football, don't leave it hanging out in open space for anyone to knock out.

2-0 is a big hole to dig out of, but this team doesn't look completely awful. If they can run the ball like they did yesterday, fine tune the passing game, and tweak the secondary...they can turn it around pretty quick.
