And at this point, I'm pinning that all on the safeties. Although Josh Wilson doesn't look particularly fantastic at nickel. I'm not astute enough as an observer to look at a defense, tell you who's going to have what assignment, and tell you which safety blew his assignment. But Grant seems to be in place to make plays from time to time. Russell never is. Only thing I remember Russell doing was making a headfirst dive on a sliding QB that was arguably a roughing penalty. Speaking of which...

Thinking back, I recall a tauting/unsportsmanlike penalty by Jackson and two defensive pass interference calls that put the ball on the two yard line that really frustrated me. And from where I was sitting in the nosebleed sections, and after watching the replay...I thought all three were trash. Maybe the taunting was there but God...it was a young player making his first huge play in the league. And if you watched Jackson, he was hyped. I don't think he was trying to show anyone up so much as he was having a little too much fun.
BTW...I like Jackson. A lot.

The punting game looks high-school worthy. Maybe. Well, not Texas high-school worthy...

I didn't see too many this week. Putting Carlson in for Putzier made a huge difference. The biggest problem I see with the receivers is an inability to get separation from their defender. Hence the "run alot of short routes up the middle and curl routes outside."

Some of them seemed like a by-product of simply bad luck. Hass' interceptions...maybe he forced it a bit, but nothing completely horrible. McMullen's fumble was completely avoidable though; When you're running with the football, don't leave it hanging out in open space for anyone to knock out.

2-0 is a big hole to dig out of, but this team doesn't look completely awful. If they can run the ball like they did yesterday, fine tune the passing game, and tweak the secondary...they can turn it around pretty quick.
