How's life DD? Went back to the old name I see... I like I like. :)

I'm going to try to be more active on here again. I was getting killed on a head and neck surgery rotation that I did at UCLA (which is why I basically vanished). I only spent a month or so there but man... it was impressive. I think it blows the Boston programs (including Harvard) out of the water. There are literally 2 head and neck training programs in LA (for a population of roughly 4 million), whereas there are 3 programs in Boston (population around 600k). Just from sheer numbers, UCLA sees all of the craziest stuff because it more or less dominates Los Angeles. Meanwhile, the Boston/NYC programs are all eating off the same plate. The training at UCLA is ridiculous. You guys have a real gem of a hospital there.

I also finally moved out of Boston and into a nearby burb called Brookline. Dude, for the first time in my life I'm actually enjoying the east coast. It's weird... the east coast can actually be pleasant when you don't have to live like a sardine. Too bad I didn't make the move sooner. I'm in this little area called Coolidge Corner, nearby a bunch of great restaurants and best of all I'm like 2 minutes from a Trader Joe's and a Peet's Coffee. Freakin sweet.

Good to see new and old faces!

This year is a transition for so many of us.

Nice, Sed. My bros tell me the same thing.

Sounds like you're in a good place, I know how sweet it is to be in a good location. I am a 5-10 min walk from Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and several whorehouses.

Nice to see ya Sed.

Brookline is a place a serious hottie I dated lived. I've heard the only issue there is parking, so if you have a good walkable locale you are probably set eh?

Miles- are you going to any NY games this year?

I am going to fight to catch the Lakers game at MSG of course. Otherwise, I'm satisfied enough to watch all the New York teams lose on tv.

The one consolation about the dodgers' loss was that the giants lost too, almost simultaneously. Misery loves company.

Speaking of company, it was awesome to hear one other person clap and cheer in a bar of several hundred. As the only two people watching the dodgers game, it felt good to make a quick friend (and get depressed shortly thereafter).

P.S.

For any of you young-uns who want to get a quick and dirty run-down on the current economic and political situation, I suggest subscribing to Economist, pretty much the best news magazine in the world.

That and the New York Times will pretty much tell you what's going on in the non-World-of-Warcraft world.

Sedition,

Brookline is a very nice part of Boston. My wife's family is from there. I know the Pete's Coffee you're talking about.

sigh...

I guess I cant complain too much but I have had sports let-down this year.

My Chargers lose in the AFC championship

My Lakers lose in the Finals

My Dodgers lose in the NLCS

Its nice that these teams are being contenders (again) but it sucks they cant get over the top. Well, I guess its time for a restart and the Chargers can get back on track and the Lakers look poised this year....and hopefully the Dodgers keep Manny and go after CC.. :)

Can't complain much about my fav. sports teams.

Manchester United: Premier League and Champs league winners and look set dominate again.
Raikonnen's been off form in F1 though but Ferrari is still strong.
Lakers: From the brink of losing Kobe to WC Champs. I can wait another year for the ultimate prize. :D

McCain, great stuff tonight, hilarious. But too little, too late. In many minds, he's irreversibly pegged as an old, stuffy jerk. Campaign was poorly managed, that's for sure.

Obama's attempts at humor are painful to watch. He seemed much more at home inappropriately pulling down the dinner's levity. Well, if you can't beat somebody at their own game...change the game.

Phil and Dodger fans- if you'd like to feel a bit better about the Dodger series you should check out the video I posted in the Matt Stairs thread. Evidently he likes to get his "ass hammered". Good stuff. Bet he wishes he could take it back, just like Broxton wishes he had thrown him a meatball.

LA's straight with heavy hitters.

Dunno what happened in the playoffs.

Something must've happened the last 4-5 days.
