I'm going to try to be more active on here again. I was getting killed on a head and neck surgery rotation that I did at UCLA (which is why I basically vanished). I only spent a month or so there but man... it was impressive. I think it blows the Boston programs (including Harvard) out of the water. There are literally 2 head and neck training programs in LA (for a population of roughly 4 million), whereas there are 3 programs in Boston (population around 600k). Just from sheer numbers, UCLA sees all of the craziest stuff because it more or less dominates Los Angeles. Meanwhile, the Boston/NYC programs are all eating off the same plate. The training at UCLA is ridiculous. You guys have a real gem of a hospital there.
I also finally moved out of Boston and into a nearby burb called Brookline. Dude, for the first time in my life I'm actually enjoying the east coast. It's weird... the east coast can actually be pleasant when you don't have to live like a sardine. Too bad I didn't make the move sooner. I'm in this little area called Coolidge Corner, nearby a bunch of great restaurants and best of all I'm like 2 minutes from a Trader Joe's and a Peet's Coffee. Freakin sweet.
