Your PG's are fine. Bibby put up 6+ dimes with the hawks last year, Harris will be a stud and Conely is maturing. What pick did you have? Must have been the 11th or 12th and you took Al Jeff and Granger?

I was hoping someone would ask that. Nope, I reached for Granger at 8, even with KG still on the board. I'm down on Garnett's production this season - his body's beginning to break down, and he'll need to start conserving himself for the postseason.

To me, Granger will put up #'s somewhat akin to Ray Allen in his prime, with fewer assists and more blocks. Didn't wanna risk losing out on him.

you had me 'til "i passed on kg for granger"...granger is def not the 8th best player in the league in real life or fantasy....you must be a miller and biedrins fan like myself bc i dig those picks and think you will like em...you need a center....id try to move gay and some change for a boozer, dalembert, garnett (ha) kind of guy...farmar as you last pick is cash munny - hes gonna blow up this year.good team though solid up and down when you get another kick ass center...imho

I knew Granger over KG wouldn't win me any fans, but I'll walk you through my rationale.

Last season, KG's stats dropped in all cats except for FG% and blocks, the biggest flag for me being minutes per game (32), his lowest since his rookie season. He also finished below 20 pts and 10 reb avg's for the first time since the 98-99 season.

He's a year older and his skills are in decline, but that's not the whole issue: as Boston's young pieces mature, they'll assume a bigger role, allowing KG to save himself for the playoffs as any 33 year old vet should. Powe looks strong this season, so he'll get more minutes/fga's. The C's also added Bill Walker, who might be ready to contribute right way. Big picture is that KG only cares about winning at this stage of his career and he doesn't need to be a stats gold-mine for Boston to be successful.

As for Granger? His trajectory is straight up at this point in his career. He's improved in every cat year over year, and makes signicant contribution in just about all of them. He's also likely to play 82 games (knock on wood) in an offense that's conducive to posting big #'s.

There were other guys I coulda taken at 8, but I had qualms about all of 'em. Marion's future in Miami is uncertain and his best days are behind him. D-Williams woulda been cool, but I had my eye on underrated pg's in later rounds so decided to go another way. I coulda just as easily taken Bosh, and thought about it, but I worry about his defensive stats when he's playing with O'Neil. Anyway, it's worht noting that if I'd picked @ 7, I would've taken Wade, so this is is as high as I was willing to take Granger. An unconventional choice I'll admit, but what can I say...I'm a maverick.

Your point about centers is well taken but I think I'm all set, dude. There's absolutely no way I'd move Gay for any of the guys you listed, for pretty much the same reasons I took Granger so high (uptempo offense, young guy on the rise, etc.).

Al Jefferson's center-eligible in my league. Does that change things, or do you still think I need another?

Do you mean I'm already going to lose FT%, which is why I should go after D-12?

ya - bigs that score are more valuble than 3's that score - any time you can move a gay for a dominant big you gotta go for it ... bigs get pts, rbs, blocks, steals, good fg #'s and %''s, sometime decent ft% but who cares........just make sure you have 2 guys that get assts

I'm not sure why you say that. The only players I have with bad FT% (Biedrins, Nene) don't shoot enough FT's to drag down my squad. I imagine that, as is, I'll win FT% slightly less than half the time.

you cant bank anything on nene...i just think that a kick ass big would serve your team far better than rudy gay -- i would sell high on that guy and try to steal a big to shore up the front line ---- theres 2's and 3's that have hot months all year long...azubuike, korver, daniel gibson could be out there...bigs dont grow on trees you gotta hunt them down

*i made a post called "ill rate your team if you rate mine" check out my teams and tell me what you would do...a was an auto draft

In a h2h you want as much flex as possible to get the max amount of games. I usually like having 3 good C's but this year I went to 4 since many are PF eligible also. But thats for the Yahoo format and being required to start 2 C's. Some days both your regular C's are off....

Assuming a healthy Nene (big assumption) I've got 4 C's. There are obviously no guarantees that they'll all be productive, but I'm not super worried about filling slots. But is there a "big man" stat you guys think I'm light on? Rebs? Blks? FG%?

if you're not so high on Garnett, then you should have taken Brand. You coulda got Granger in the 2nd.

What's wrong with his centers? Andris Biedrins is a beast.

Only keep Rudy Gay if you like 3's, steals, blocks etc...

Brand was gone.

The order was:

Paul
Bryant
James
Stoudemire
Nowitzki
Brand
Wade

KG was the only other player I considered taking with the 8th pick and I couldn't pull the trigger.

Funny post, DNYKiller... I'm a big Rudy fan.

I'd still take KG over Granger. Yes, it's likely KG's production will drop, but not as much as last year. He was in a new team with more supporting cast, it was expected that his numbers will drop. On the other hand, I don't expect Granger's number to increase. If anything it might even drop with TJ running the show. He will definitely take some shots and with Dunleavy maturing, and Bird's love affair with caucasian basketball players.

Overall, it's a solid team, but I have seen better, nothing to have a crush over IMO.

Good luck,

rate my team if you have a chance:
