Finally!!!!!

But it sucks to see Daunte go. He inspired me so much hope, that I was going to name my future son after him, but I'll still call my future son Daunte cause I love that name.

Did they cut Daunte?

Good trade for the Fins. Pretty much assures that Cleo Lemon won't be our starter. I would like to see them keep Daunte because he can be 5x better than Green if he comes back strong. Green just doesn't have the size, cannon arm, or mobility as Daunte.

So now the next question is, what happens with Daunte.

It would've been nice to get him for nothing, but whether it ends up being a 5th or a 4th, either way we paid a fair price for a starting QB. I can live with that. I say Trent's gonna have a good year.

And as much as I wanted to see Culpepper succeed here, it looks like it's time to cut our losses. Maybe we can cash him for a late round draft pick.

At this point, given injury and the timing, I'm not sure we're going to be able to trade Daunte. I think he gets cut...

but this does suck...they should give daunte the opportunity to compete with green for the starting job instead of just cutting him and if they DO cut him, i hope green sucks it up to make miami wish they wouldntve cut him.

everyone forgets that pep was almost mvp during peytons magical season.

they can't keep both - Culpepper makes like $8M this season, they will trade or cut him

Green fits into Cameron's system (quick release, smart reads) and Pep doesn't (holds onto the ball and hopes to make a play with his athleticism and big arm)

Beck is the QB of the future, Green will mentor him with the system (our QB coach was Trent's QB coach in KC forever) for the next year or two

Maybe Daunte will restructure his contract. No one is gonna give him 8 million with his knee.

no team has two alpha males on the roster to be QB, plus Lemon (who just signed a 1.5 m contract) and Beck

the Culpepper experiment is probably over, even if he has tread left on his tires it wont be here where he continues. Stupid on Saban for giving the Vikes a 2nd rounder for damaged goods.

it wasnt stupid to get culpepper for a 2nd round pick...the thing that was stupid was making him come back before he was fully injured...i hope he takes a pay cut and beats out green for the starting job...whats so special about trent green anymore anyways??? damon huard did 10 times better then green last season.

go daunte!!!

^Green was out due to injury, which in part allowed Huard to play more games than Green. lol

Hence, the better production.....

but huard played better than green did...even when green came back, he didnt match the numbers huard did. besides, greens what, 36? thats dumb...miami invested a 2nd round pick for culpepper and now their already giving up on him?

I am not going to sit here and say that we got Trent Green from 2 years ago but fair is fair. Huard never beat Green for the starting job. If you remember, Green was the starter at the beginning of last season and Huard was his backup. Sounds like Green beat Huard right out of training camp. Green gets injured and Huard takes advantage and performs well. Dolphins fans are very familiar with that scenario when the same Mr. Huard played great in place of Dan Marino when he got hurt and all of the sudden people wanted him to be starter. Huard couldn't beat Jay Fiedler for the starting job the following season. Green is a good pickup for Miami to teach the system to our younger QB's. KC figured they were taking their chances with Croyle at QB and a well experienced and cheaper Huard as insurance which is why Green was not part of their plans and the same reason why Culpepper is not in Miami's plans. Culpepper had to learn a new system as well. Green was familiar with the system and could groom a young John Beck better than DC. Cleo Lemons has experience with the new system but doesn't bring the pedigree that Green does to be a starter for the next season or two.
If I am Cameron, I would do the same thing. If I am going to be judged, let it be with my own players. Culpepper is the complete opposite to what a Cameron's QB needs to be.

Green is still the better QB option in my opinion. This is what I was hoping for all along. We have Green in place for atleast a year maybe two-three and Beck waiting, learning, and grooming for the future job. I like it. Good quick fix by the Fins. See ya Daunte.

he's the best kind of QB - the unknown quantity draft high draft pick

2nd best kind - the 2nd stringer who never plays who everyone assumes is better than the starter (you know, like when Manning throws a pick there is a small percentage of fans saying "COME ON PEYTON! You suck, put in Sorgi!")

I'm excited about Beck's potential and now that Green is here it will only help him in his development.
