It would've been nice to get him for nothing, but whether it ends up being a 5th or a 4th, either way we paid a fair price for a starting QB. I can live with that. I say Trent's gonna have a good year.
And as much as I wanted to see Culpepper succeed here, it looks like it's time to cut our losses. Maybe we can cash him for a late round draft pick.

they can't keep both - Culpepper makes like $8M this season, they will trade or cut him
Green fits into Cameron's system (quick release, smart reads) and Pep doesn't (holds onto the ball and hopes to make a play with his athleticism and big arm)
Beck is the QB of the future, Green will mentor him with the system (our QB coach was Trent's QB coach in KC forever) for the next year or two

it wasnt stupid to get culpepper for a 2nd round pick...the thing that was stupid was making him come back before he was fully injured...i hope he takes a pay cut and beats out green for the starting job...whats so special about trent green anymore anyways??? damon huard did 10 times better then green last season.
go daunte!!!

I am not going to sit here and say that we got Trent Green from 2 years ago but fair is fair. Huard never beat Green for the starting job. If you remember, Green was the starter at the beginning of last season and Huard was his backup. Sounds like Green beat Huard right out of training camp. Green gets injured and Huard takes advantage and performs well. Dolphins fans are very familiar with that scenario when the same Mr. Huard played great in place of Dan Marino when he got hurt and all of the sudden people wanted him to be starter. Huard couldn't beat Jay Fiedler for the starting job the following season. Green is a good pickup for Miami to teach the system to our younger QB's. KC figured they were taking their chances with Croyle at QB and a well experienced and cheaper Huard as insurance which is why Green was not part of their plans and the same reason why Culpepper is not in Miami's plans. Culpepper had to learn a new system as well. Green was familiar with the system and could groom a young John Beck better than DC. Cleo Lemons has experience with the new system but doesn't bring the pedigree that Green does to be a starter for the next season or two.
If I am Cameron, I would do the same thing. If I am going to be judged, let it be with my own players. Culpepper is the complete opposite to what a Cameron's QB needs to be.
