The Wings have 4 cups since 1997 thats pretty damn good and esp in the new NHL where people wrote us off saying we can't "buy wins/cups" anymore and we are "old"
The Sharkies deserve all the credit in the world they are amazing this season but they might fall a bit once people adjust to their game. It's been what 35 games and they are automatic cup champs? Also Patrick Marleau for MVP? If anything it's Malkin or Corsby for MVP look at the numbers. Malkin has more points and is leading the league in assists so it's not all Crosby feeding him the puck.
I dont care what your franchise has done in the past 15 years, you fans act like your some current dynasty that has had a 3peat or something. Yes you won last year, but lost the season before in the conference finals and before that had a string of first round exits. The Wings are a great franchise but its the fact that most of there fans act like they are currently unbeatable that makes fans of other teams sick. Right now San Jose is a better team and its just stupid to say thing's like " I think a eastern team will win". Why would you think a eastern team will win? are you insinuating that the top teams in the East are better then the ones in the West?
What do you mean adjust to there game? I dont expect them to go 65-17 or some crazy record like that but your just grasping at staws if you think trying to figure them out is all the sudden going to change them from being a powerhouse into just a average to good team. Its not even about record but its more to do with how they are winning games and how dominant they are at home. I dont know how anyone could think that if Det and SJ played a series starting today that Detroit would win. Detroit has lost to basically all the good teams they have played this season and they have MAJOR goaltending issues.
I said Marleau is a MVP "candidate" you know, a candidate meaning one of many? He's easily been one of the 5-6 best skaters this season and his numbers are also good. True impact isnt solely based on who has the most points. Marleau is a much better defensive player and penalty killer then anyone of Malkin, Crosby or Ovechkin.
Keep hating on SJ all youd like but they look like a well oiled machine right now and if they stay away from injuries they should be the favorites in the west once the playoffs start. Detroit plays San Jose on Thursday night and I fully expect Detroit to win this game seeing SJ will be playing the 2nd game of a back to back and its 3rd game in 4 nights so I wouldnt get too excited if your team wins this game.
Tremendous point, Marleau is very underrated defensively especially on the PK.
