Well, that and you'd need to find Horford his own Steve Nash in order to GET him those extra shot attempts. What's funny about Malone is that not everybody thought he was all that good before the draft. Sure, you'll find "experts" - now - who claim they loved him all the time, but, back then, I remember scouts saying he was "just a guy." Most didn't believe he was a lottery pick. Even beyond that, too many confuse the huuuuuge and strong Malone to the player who 1st walked onto the court for Utah. Malone had to convince the Jazz to draft him. Story is, he jumped over a table to show his athleticism when they interviewed him.
PF might be the 2nd hardest position to project (right behind PG - who can project vision and decision-making?). Horford is fast, smart, he is already a superior rebounder, he's agile, he has a mid-range jumper (that's hard, hard, hard for most young PFs) and he has a proven record of rising in important games. The guy's gold.
He IS lighter than Malone was: DraftExpress has Horford listed at 246 when he was drafted; now, he's listed at 245. Malone was listed at 250 when he was drafted and he SUPPOSEDLY was 256 when he retired (not sure I believe that'un; he sure looked bigger). So Horford is only a little smaller than Malone at the same stage of their careers.
A couple of our starters go out and, all of a sudden, Horford and Marvelous look like all-stars. Bibby is doing a good job of earning a new contract but Horford and Marvin's recent play makes me wonder what we'd look like with better shot distribution.
