Question: Why start Diawara? Reminiscent of the Woodson, I'm starting Royal Ivey each half and only playing him 10 minutes total. I for one appreciate every minute that Diawara was out there instead of Beasley, it was like spotting us a player.

I wondered why they use that strategy as well. Some people thought trading Marion would allow them to play Beasley more but that hasn't been the case. Beasley is easily their 2nd best offensive player but they seem hell bent on limiting his minutes.....even if that means they have to play scrubs(Joel Anthony and Diawara)in their rotation. Beasley hasn't been nearly as bad as the national media has made him out to be. His rebounding hasn't translated but his individual numbers would be right up there with Rose and Mayo if he was on another team.

This is why i said 6 months ago, that Horford has the talent (and frame) to become Karl Malone if he just took more shot attempts. Horford has a very good midrange jump shot, which is what Karl used to get the majority of his points.

That's funny, because, as I understand it, God wears this one when you die:

Malone had 20 pounds on Horford. Malone was one of the strongest players in the league.

Malone averaged twice as many points in his second season as Horford is now. You might as well compare JJ to Jordan.

Well, that and you'd need to find Horford his own Steve Nash in order to GET him those extra shot attempts. What's funny about Malone is that not everybody thought he was all that good before the draft. Sure, you'll find "experts" - now - who claim they loved him all the time, but, back then, I remember scouts saying he was "just a guy." Most didn't believe he was a lottery pick. Even beyond that, too many confuse the huuuuuge and strong Malone to the player who 1st walked onto the court for Utah. Malone had to convince the Jazz to draft him. Story is, he jumped over a table to show his athleticism when they interviewed him.

PF might be the 2nd hardest position to project (right behind PG - who can project vision and decision-making?). Horford is fast, smart, he is already a superior rebounder, he's agile, he has a mid-range jumper (that's hard, hard, hard for most young PFs) and he has a proven record of rising in important games. The guy's gold.

He IS lighter than Malone was: DraftExpress has Horford listed at 246 when he was drafted; now, he's listed at 245. Malone was listed at 250 when he was drafted and he SUPPOSEDLY was 256 when he retired (not sure I believe that'un; he sure looked bigger). So Horford is only a little smaller than Malone at the same stage of their careers.

A couple of our starters go out and, all of a sudden, Horford and Marvelous look like all-stars. Bibby is doing a good job of earning a new contract but Horford and Marvin's recent play makes me wonder what we'd look like with better shot distribution.

So how many players in the NBA would you consider to be stronger than Horford?!?!?!????

Shelden tested stronger at the combine than Horford.

Looking solely at centers:

Kwame
Bynum
Curry
Dampier
Foyle
Haywood
Nene
Howard
Al Jefferson
Kaman
Lopez brothers
Yao
Shaq
Okafor
Kendrick Perkins
Big Z

All of those guys can push Horford around. If Horford was as strong as Malone he wouldn't struggle so much trying to back guys down.
