Well I think we just expected too much from him. We gotta remember he's still a rookie and the Suns season has been a bit unusually, he's also been getting minimal playing time. He's still got the jitters.

Having said that, I still don't agree with the pick.

I know it's natural to show rust when you dont play that much, but he has BAD hands and is seriously slower than Ilgauskas around the hoop. He catches it, then takes FAR too long to even bring the ball up to shoot, and it gets slapped out by defenders...

What's wrong with what I said? Lopez was drafted at #15 and is a 20 year old with alot of potential (maybe the Suns shouldn't have drafted him but it is what it is) so they should be playing him. He's a solid defender, can block some shots and is a presence down by the basket, he had a few good dunks yesterday against the Cavaliers.

I don't know what Kerr sees in him when darfting him at #15. For a guy drafted that high, one would expect more polish, in this case, some polish. The guy really has nothing going for him. He has no offensive move. Can't shoot. Can't pass. His man-on-man defense is weak. And he's slow at communicating and rotating on defense. And, IMO, his rebounding should be the biggest concern. Per 48 minutes, he's averaging 8 rebounds and let his opponent has 12.9, which is a pathetic stat for a center brought in to suppose to concentrate on "defense and rebounding". At least he averages more rebounds than personal fouls (7.5) for the season.

I know he's a rookie, and this is his first year. Forget about drafting him 15 picks earlier, I'm just very discouraged by his stone hands and horrific rebounding. I'm not sure playing him would help. He just isn't ready for the NBA. He needs to learn a skill first. Then he can go out on the floor to refine that skill. Getting playing experience is useless if you got nothing going. In Lopez's case, the only experience he's getting is being a bad player.

+ 1

He wasn't even spectacular in college either playing behind Brook. Unlike his bro, he did spent his college career getting rebounds and blocking shots, other than that he has no other skill or go-to moves. Drafting someone purely on potential is always a huge huge risk and I do hope Kerr sees something we don't.

i love him in the bench though. have you all notice the way the PHX bench reacts after an exciting play? Looks like the whole bench is holding Lopez back so he won't jump on the court. lol

He needed to spend a lot more time in college...I think the D League would help him.

He needs to work on speed and athleticism, OR strength. Can't be mediocre at both, as he is now.

he has the frame to be a Chandler type guy, but looks more like a 6ft guy who doesn't know what to do with the extra foot he just grew....

I might be speaking solely for myself, but I'm pretty sure every 6 footer would know exactly what he would do with another foot of growth :)

ha...yeah I bet it included penetration and has nothing to do with basketball ;)

Seriously though, he looks like a special kid bobbling the ball out there, or a young deer that's learning how to run properly..
