Re: College players thread/ Draft Related thread
Heres my question. Is it really a rookie PG that we need? I think a vet starting PG is more important. Someone like a Derek Fisher, Steve Blake, Rafer Alston, etc. Nothing spectacular, but someone who can run the offense and won't cost an arm and a leg. I would offer guys like Telfair and Smith in return.

well, we do need a long term starting PG. I don't see how a team like ours would ever need a 30+ year old over a long term starter. We have an over-abundance of unspectacular players. Sure Fisher/Blake/Alston would improve us, but we need a lot more than marginal improvement.
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

Warning, Small rant to follow.
Now I am not saying this individual is a bad player, quite the contrary, I think he is quite talented and performs a role most teams can use. He has potential to be a nice rotation guy and contributer.
That said, I do not understand all the love the Blair gets on this board. He is a horrible fit for the current MN roster that has about 20 or so options to play the power forward position, and that is Blair's only real position as he is FAR too short to be a center. Also, for those that worry about Thabeet's fouling, Blair would be in a far worse position due to girth and position. This year, Thabeet averaged about six more minutes a game then Blair and fouled less times (through 31 games per CBS).
Blair is redundent, brings nothing new, doesn't have a high ceiling, and is just more apt to try and out physical someone, which he can do in college, but will have a much harder time doing that in the NBA. Plus, we have Craig Smith who has more all round skill (point power forward FTW) as well as the aforementioned, glut of players that can/do play the 4 position for MN.
Unless some fairly sizable roster changes occur, just say no to Blair. No Blair. No more drafting power forwards for a little bit please (unless it's Blake Griffin and then we have some roster cleaning that will need to be done).

Re: College players thread/ Draft Related thread
My only interest in Blair would be if we clean out Smith and possibly Gomes, while finding a center.
C - Thabeet/Love
PF - Jefferson/Blair
That kind of frontcourt.

If we draft thabeet it is to do a 3 man rotation with Love/Al--no minutes for Blair.

That's the first time I've ever heard anyone call Smith a point forward. Obviously we don't need Blair. I don't think anyone is going to disagree with you rant or no rant.

Re: College players thread/ Draft Related thread
Agreed, but you always need that fourth big, we don't have one assuming we trade Cookie. Although I'm sure Gomes is fine getting minutes as our 4th big, but assuming we lose both, we kind of need a 4th guy. Just say no to Cardinal and Madsen.

We need a stud who doesn't play in the post. If we got a stud wing then we could talk about a guy like that, but not now.

I think the rest of our players are far enough away that a rookie point guard would not hold us back. Heck, Lawson probably is more developed as far as where he is going to be than Brewer or Love at this point.

For the boston pick, who are the best perimeter defenders in the draft?

Who would you say you can defend better Chris Paul or Lebron James? - Not necessarily shut them down but just force them to have a below average performance.

Re: College players thread/ Draft Related thread
I have 6 fouls to give, and I have no problem donating my entire check to pay off a flagrant 2, so I'll slam either of them to the ground.

Terence Williams or Sam Young if they fall.
Danny Green could go that high. I could see a team like San Antonio drafting him.
Tyler Smith, KC Rivers, Antonio Anderson, and Travis Walton are all good perimeter defenders that could go 2nd round to undrafted.

How many minutes before your 6 fouls are used up?

Which of one of these would you give a 1st round guaranteed contract to?

If my role is to get a flagrant on LeBron or Paul, then all I need is one minute and I won't even use all 6. I'll be the new LeBron Stopper!

Obviously Williams or Young. I suspect they'll go 16-25 though.
Depending on who was available, I would consider Green with the Boston pick. He plays great D and can hit the 3. He's probably already better than Brewer.

Anybody else worried that the Wolves will take Gerald Henderson? Don't get me wrong...he's a solid piece. But does anyone think maybe his ceiling is very very low, and that he'll end up as a role player?
