Garnett, Pierce, Iverson, Vince carter, and Sheed... Even Ubuntu is not strong enough for a lineup like that.

I'm all for moving Ray at the end of the season, but I'm not sure Vince is the guy I'd want to bring in. While Carter did have a very good year this year I don't think he'd fit in that well. I'd rather see what they can do and get a back up big and a younger 2 that can play some D.

PP calling himself the best player in the NBA was funny!

Does anyone think he STILL believes that?

Would Detroit consider a Ray/Baby (s&t) for Rip/Tayshawn? I think those two would be nice pieces to reload for another championship run with Rondo/Rip/Pierce/KG/Perk 6th man Tayshawn. Big help guarding LeBron as well.

He was named to the All-NBA 2nd team. It seems to me that every time Wade/LeBron/Kobe have a dominating game it's a 1 hour SportsCenter special. HS friends are interviewed on how they felt seeing their old schoolmate win a game single-handedly.

I hope Pierce DOES believe he's the best player on the planet, it'll push him that much harder than LeBron is getting the credit.

Not a chance they can get both Rip and Prince. I'd love to see the C's get Rip tho. He would be great to take over for Ray Allen. Problem is Detroit would really have to just want to get rid of his contract.

Rondo will make $2 million next year, the 4th year of his rookie contract.

His extension, if he signs one this offseason, won't kick in until 2011.

sully and I have been duking this one out for a while.

My opinion, which you probably know, is that anything less than

$11 million + $2 million incentives in 2011 offered in the first week of negotiations
results in Rajon saying bye bye.

Rajon has already said that he considers himself the best point guard in the league.

Rajon's agent Bill Duffy is the point guard guru.

I doubt Rajon signs for anything under 5 years, $65 million guaranteed PLUS $10 million in incentives.

The risk of making Rajon wait a year is he gets awfully close to unrestricted free agency, plus the incentive part could diminish and become all guaranteed.

Alright, I don't want to start an argument, I just have serious question: do you think Paul--or any professional athlete that just won a championship--wouldn't think they're the best? Should he have pulled a Dampier and said he's the "second- or third-best" player? I mean, yeah, he should have just kept his mouth shut, but he talked smack, tried admirably to back it up, and ultimately failed. But I don't see what the big deal is, unless you're one of those people that believe in "karma" or whatever.

Well at least Paul aimed high, unlike so many losers both in pro sports and in just plain ol' real life who are satisfied settling for mediocrity...

I say okay to a Ray trade, but only if it make a TON of sense for us. Maybe we need to think bigger. There was a small, lingering rumor about New Orleans looking to move Chris Paul, which of course the owner dismissed. But could we make them an offer they can't refuse? Why wait up for 2011 FA, or keep cash around for a star run, when you could trade for one now. Maybe:

Ray (19m)
Rondo (2.6m)
Scal (3.4m)
Allen (2.5m)
Perk (4m)

Out - $31.5m

Chris Paul (13m)
Chandler (12m)
Posey (6m)

Out - $31m
_______________________

This would net the Hornets two young players that are cost controlled for now. It also gives them a year to see what becomes of Rondo before committing huge dollars. You have to give to get in this league. This would net the Celtics one of the top 5 young talents in the league, which I honestly think is the type of move the C's need to make to stay competitive with the Cavs. It would greatly improve our half court offense, our defense, and get Chris Paul the attention he really deserves in a real NBA market. We also get a big who can finish at the basket when healthy.

Then, the C's need to try to get Sheed to sign the mid level. If he won't, re-sign Baby and try to get Gortat. If you can't sign Baby, try to sign and trade him for a guy like Raja Bell, and then take a flyer on Ike Diogu, or somebody like him, and resign Powe to vet minimum for a few years.

New C's:

pg: Paul, Eddie, Vet
sg: Bell, PP, Eddie, Giddens
sf: PP, Posey, Walker
pf: KG, Diogu, ?
c: Chandler, Gortat
___________

Sure, the above includes a healthy dose of wishful thinking, but I think it's this type of move that would be needed to move Ray Allen. You can't trade Ray for a guy like Vince.

Celtics don't need to trade Pierce or Ray Allen, they need to find a better 3rd guard then Tony Allen. A scoring third guard the can play 20-25 minutes and keep Pierce and Ray's minutes down to 32-34 minutes per game.

Answer: Anthony Parker

He's your bench scorer, shooter and gives you something defensively. He can't be any worst than Ray in that area. Twenty-five could be a reach but Parker might give a team fifteen to twenty minutes. I think Rivers trust veterans, so Parker would play a lot if with Boston. I can see him logging eighteen minutes a game.

The 2008-09 season found the Raptors in rough waters, as they managed just 33 wins. Parker started 61 games and dumped in 10.7 points per game, while posting career highs with 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals per night. Parker became a free agent after the season, and the Raptors have expressed an interest in keeping him as a reserve. Toronto holds the ninth pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, and many guards are expected to be available, including Davidson sensation Stephen Curry, Duke star Gerald Henderson and Arizona swingman Chase Budinger. Expect the Raptors to select a guard early, and potentially use Parker to help groom the draft pick into the position.

Parker will turn 34 in June, so his days as a starter are likely over, but expect him to stay in Toronto and earn 15-20 minutes per night as the first guard off the pine, spending the season with fellow former Bradley star Patrick O'Bryant. In a recent interview with The Fan 590 in Toronto, Parker said that he believes he can still play good defense, and can provide locker room leadership for a team.

I said it earlier this year and I will say it again, This is the time to trade Ray Allen, You can rip some team off and your big three has maybe 2 years left before you guys look like the Pistons.. Do I think Vince Carter is the guy to target...no but there options the pistons are clearing space try to get stuckey off there hands... just do something before you look like the pistons..

Source? I think starting at 9 million with 10% raises is fair. At this point, there's no way a team pays him max money, so he's not getting a Chris Paul type of contract. I read an article when they played Phoenix in which Rondo said if Phoenix had kept him he'd be the reserve behind Nash and not have a Championship. It doesn't sound like he has that opinion based on that article.

So Al Jefferson money isn't good enough for Rondo he has to have 10 mil in incentives as well?

You have to forget about the incentives, they only come into play on below market deals, and they are never an option with a team in the lux tax.

How is Rondo worth more than any other pg in the league outside of Deron or CP3?

Why do you keep carrying on about Bill Duffy the only other pg he is listed as the agent for his Steve Nash?

Were is he going to go? He needs the Celtics to get paid as much as they need him to win games.

He is 6' ft tall and he can't shoot.
