It would be different if the two athletes were unwilling participants. These guys generally have a great respect for their opponents, and the love what they do. Their cuts are superficial, their bruises heal.
If people don't like it, they don't have to watch it. But if they are going on some sort of morality witch hunt, then their list is about to get a lot longer. MMA quickly falls down that list.
Boxing is in the same realm since the goal of the sport is to hurt the other participant. In the other sports, injury is just collateral damage. Even you want to put all those sports in the same category, that doesn't change the argument against MMA.
