The point is, one of those guys, or maybe two, will be good enough next season to play PG when Rondo's not in the game. What are the options at 4/5? Wallace and Scal and that's it. Scal can't even guard his position half the time (he good on some perimeter 4s, but that's all). And what if we lose somebody to injury?
I get what you are saying, but I think we need to trade for a point guard. There are some good options in free agency at the big positions. All we would need is a 3rd stringer because Perk, KG and Rasheed would take the lionshare of the minutes.
Joe Smith, Gooden, Nesterovic, Magloire, Ely, Wilcox, S.Swift,
Honestly, we'll see if those guys want to take the minimum.
I get what you're saying about backup point guard too, it's just that I don't think Baby should be the instrument used to acquire such a player. In reality, if we were to acquire a real point guard, the odd-man out (with Daniels signing here) would be Eddie House. House and the real point guard makes us extremely small and not so good defensively in the backcourt.
Ideally, the trade would be House for a point guard who can stroke the 3. That would give us a ton more balance offensively and defensively. Let's start seeing some trade House threads guys!
