Re: "Williams Returning To Atlanta"
When deals are announced its always going to be different based on whether the team or the agent announce it. The Agent usually announces it with all incentives included because they want people to think they did the best job possible. The team will usually announce it without incentives included because it makes them look the best. I'm guessing that the first year is entirely guaranteed and future years there will be some incentives put in which is where the contract disparity will come in.

I read 37.5 guaranteed, with incentives to push to $40M. I think he got Marvin at a liveable number than being strapped. I expected Marvin to ask for Smoove-like numbers.
I am impressed with Sund, who has put together some cap friendly numbers. The roster is improving under his guidance and I look for one more 'value' addition to the roster.

Great summer! I was worried after the Crawford signing that we would not sign Bibby. Then we signed Bibby for a great number. And I never thought we would resign Bibby, Pachulia, and Williams. I am thrilled.

So, Sund probably offered the same base that he'd originally offered but gave incentives that can reach to what Marvelous wanted. Can't argue with that.
Sund may not be a visionary but he's apparently a true professional GM.

Re: "Williams Returning To Atlanta"
Great news for the Hawks!!
Now if we could sign Joe Smith, Hunter(min), and Siler(min) we would truly be an improved team. We would be 10 deep with projects in Morris, Hunter, and Siler. If just one of those 3 could play useful minutes then I believe we could go out and win 50 games.

Where's your source? Because, when they announced on the news (TV) last night, the report was that he signed a 5yr deal in the $30Ms...So don't speculate/assume until an official report is posted.
Who is speculating? It is the rumor deal being posted around on AJC,Yahoo, weeks back by another site. It is the market value. I am posting the info that is going around. There is no speculating going on. Whoever is throwing around $30 million over 5 years has prob got that number out of thin air. Who is the news guy that spoke of the $30 mil over 5 years?

Marvin is a good guy....it appears he's pretty satisfied where he's at in life right now(both location wise and financially).

Nocioni has one of the worst contracts in the league. We'd take him ONLY if the deal went something like:
Marvin Williams
Jamal Crawford
Randolph Morris
for
Kevin Martin
Andres Nocioni
Jason Thompson
2010 1st
In order to trade him you'd need to get rid of major talent or get an equally terrible contract. You're certainly not getting him for Marvin Williams.

Hawks forward Marvin Williams is expected to sign a five-year, $37.5 million contract as early as Thursday afternoon, with an official announcement to be made early next week.
With incentives, Williams' total salary could be as high as $43 million. He averaged 13.9 points and 6.3 rebounds last season. "The one thing you hardly ever see in professional sports is that loyalty and teams staying together," he said. "When you do see it, like in San Antonio or Detroit...you see championships." http://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-hawks ... orts_82038

Great to hear the is finally going to be completed. The report we heard weeks back about it being $37,5 million was actually correct. They just jump the gun a little bit saying he sign. Regardless a very fair deal for both sides.
